You got a point. Anyone knows why there would be that much of white smoke appearing on a ship

First thought that came to my mind when I saw this is fire drill.

The fact that they keep using the same straight seems to me to be a wee bit of a message to Japan, that anything south of Okinawa could be lost to them in a Taiwan scenario.

Looks like they were starting the main engine? Smoke caused by an accidental fire won't be light and blue.
