PPT slides from another time. Given that they were sourced from FYJS, which became defunct in 2019, those images predate 2019 and could actually be earlier. I won’t be surprised if they were already shared in the past.

The last two slides are interesting since they are about future PLAN frigate and destroyer, respectively. Both frigates and destroyer will focus on all aspect stealth, and IEPS. Frigates will specialize in integrating new weapons system and improving anti-submarine capabilities whereas the destroyer will incorporate integrated mast, new laser/kinetic (railgun?) weapons, and mid-stage missile interception capabilities.

Hypersonic anti ship missiles have been PPT leaked years ago... feels like 5 years but probably just a few. Not only that slide I remember seeing a while ago but another that predates it and show something similar with the hypersonic weapon clearly visually represented as being a glide/maneuverable vehicle.

This ain't that surprising since China's publicly revealed a large HGV back in 2019 - something that's arguably much more sophisticated than hypersonic anti-ship weapon since the natural progression means starting with a Zircon/AGM-183 like weapon and scaling up and adding more electronics within the vehicle, for a multipurpose anti-surface weapon that is. The DF-17 vehicle is just going to be quite a lot more versatile and I'm sure China's got an entire range of HGVs, showing only one to add strategic deterrence since that is more useful for Guam, Okinawa, and other US bases within range of DF-17 booster. The anti-carrier HGVs won't be revealed so publicly beyond some PPTs that get leaked.

Let's remember that the only nation to have revealed one of their actual in service HGVs is China. Even the US refuses to reveal the actual AGM-183 (the HGV within the rocket booster).

There were from at least as early as 2017.

Rick Fisher of all people wrote an article covering it back then.

All in all, certainly not breaking news, albeit good to have the slides reacquired for what it's worth.

All of the projects in those slides are things that have either emerged, in the process of emerging, or being anticipated in the near future -- i.e.: most of the stuff is already a bit obsolete, "rumour" wise.

great stuff especially the carrier based AWAC.

An interesting excerpt from an academic paper that I cannot locate. If I'm reading this correctly, the excerpt calls for the capability to launch nuclear ICBMs from submarines while they are docked. Basically, in the scenario where China needs to quickly launch a retaliatory nuclear strike, there is little time for the SSBNs to sail out and launch their payload, so they need to have the ability to launch while moored. This capability is made possible by the increased range of submarine based ICBMs.

I wonder why the article uses the word "soldiers" instead of sailors & marines, as if there's no distinction between them.
"Soldier" simply means a person in an army. This is everyone in uniform regardless of service or rank.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of folks began considering "soldier" as someone in the Army, ie the ground component of a nations military.

So, depending on usage, "soldier" is correct.
