Minnie chan is like you put your homey housewife in charge of war reporting.
But some of her info seems legit.

Like when she report, China resume the construction of Type 003 AC with EMALS after delayed Steam vs EMALS.
Proved to be true now.

Now, I will take info that Second Type 003 AC already started initial construction in Jiangnan Shipyard.
We will see if this true or not, maybe in the next year

I hope her report on the extra twenty 054's being the B model is correct.

That's like saying we should give her credit if she says the earth orbits the sun -- some things are so obvious and accepted in consensus that mentioning it shouldn't earn her any credibility.

Now if she was just repeating things everyone already knew, then fine that isn't an issue -- the problem is that she over past years has been going around saying the equivalent that the moon is made out of cheese.

If someone said that the earth orbits the sun, but that the moon is made out of choose, would that person be considered someone to be taken seriously?
No.
Sometimes getting some things "right" but also often making statements which are blatantly incorrect, and getting things wrong repeatedly with repeated articles, doesn't mean one should be considered credible, it just means they're unable to differentiate between what is wrong and what is right.

In regards to the second 003 carrier, it is possible that a second one will be built at JN which we've heard rumours of over the last half year or more, but I definitely would not be using Minnie Chan as the arbiter for whether it's going to happen or not lol.

It is true that many people refer to war ship as battleship, a very common mistake, but it also shows the level of military knowledge of a column writer who is focusing on military news.
Yup.

But the biggest mistake I see is the following

Andrei Chang, editor-in-chief of the Canada-based Kanwa Defence Review, said it was impossible for a country to train capable captains and sailors to command near 100 modern warships just in a decade

Saying it is impossible is a ridiculous statement.

During WW1 and WW2, we saw much larger naval training buildups which only required a few years.

And the article also mentions the Chinese Navy has over 350 warships and submarines, including 130 major surface combatants. That is a large pool of already trained sailors and captains to draw from.

Not directly related to PLAN per se... but this surveying activity likely benefits the PLAN's Submarine Force

Chinese Ships Seen Mapping Strategic Seabed In Indian Ocean
Chinese-Survey-Ships-Indian-Ocean-770x410.jpg.webp

Chinese government ships have been carrying out a systematic survey in the eastern Indian ocean. Data gathered may be particularly relevant to submarine warfare.

A Chinese Survey ship, the Xiang Yang Hong 03, is currently operating in the Indian Ocean. It has already caused controversy, accused of ‘running dark’, without broadcasting its position in Indonesian territorial waters. The bigger picture is that it is part of a major effort by China to systematically map the seabed across vast swath of the Indian Ocean.
