That article is off topic from this thread's purpose, and frankly aside from political posturing is of little relevance for proper military watching either (if the reverse was stated from the Chinese govt I would consider it posturing as well).

So a warning, no further discussions about that article in this thread please.

Russia has no where near the naval capability China has

yet Russia seems to be very much more aggressive towards Western countries, and the West is more afraid of Russia no doubt about it

I was watching a Naval documentary and only 2 very old Russian warships one of which was a auxiliary stopped the French aircraft carrier from conducting air operations in the Mediterranean

The French had a Royal Navy Type 45 DDG providing air cover and its job was to stop any Russian warship getting close to French carrier because during air opps no other warships is allowed to come within 12 miles of the French carrier

the Russians blatantly and opening cut between the French and British warships and Type 45 DDG had to manoeuvre very close to the Russian to make it move away before Rafales could start taking off

Then Russian launched a very old helicopter right over the Type 45 DDG again Royal Navy was frantically trying to radio the helo asking it to move away

Russian have like 40 years olds ships and they tied down navies of two powerful Western countries

Now imagine what they would do with a Type 055??

China should offer some new warships to Russia at a reasonable price.

^Too much pride on the line - never gonna happen. However, Russia is buying Chinese marine engines and CNC machines. In the future, I could see Russia providing China with more sensitive tech in exchange for China's help refitting Russia's ship yards. But even that is doubtful, imo.

It's a lot more than just pride, making ships yourself is cheaper, stimulates the economy, keeps the arms industry alive, better weapon integration and logistics. There are currently no insurmountable gaps in capabilities between Russian and PLA surface ships so that's never going to happen, what is an interesting possibility is China selling back one of the refurbished Soviet Carriers since Russia could no longer make those.

Actually, on second thought, that's a stretch as well, Carriers are perceived as aggressive strategic assets and it is Ukraine that sold the Carriers to China.

It was also a political message about WTF is 12 miles territorial claims around a carrier. This ridiculous claim is a NATO invention without any logical or legal base which was constantly defied by USSR and as it seems by Russia todays

Well, the thing is, it's in the best interest of both China and Russia that Russia rebuilt her military ship building industry and capacity instead of buying Chinese ships. The reason is that China and Russia are de facto allies. It's in China's interest to see a healthy Russia, instead of a Russia that takes out a bulk of China's ship building capacity, resulting in the PLAN not able to get ships as fast as they could. China's ship building capacity is already quite full with military and civilian orders.

What instead should happen, should be China helping Russia to quickly rebuilt her own military ship building industry and sharing technology so that Russia could quickly start churning out large and power warships. Russia is not Thailand or Myanmar or Algeria.

Also, there is the bigger picture. Buying Chinese ships will hurt the already battered Russian ship building industry. For China, the Russian ship building capacity is a great ally. It's in China's interest that Russia have a healthy ship building industry. If China start selling a lot of warship to Russia and Russian ship builder do not get the orders, they will got bankrupt and reduces Russia's overall ship building capacity. In the overall picture, a weak Russian military ship building capacity will actually make the combined ship building capacity of China and Russia weaker and smaller. That is not in the interest of China. China need Russia to be a strong and able ally.
