I'd say donate them to Russian navy ;)

But heyy, Chinese Sovremenny that been upgraded are very modern now with all Chinese weapons and electronics. Not bad to have 2x4 YJ-12A supersonic missiles and 32 cells for HQ-16C or Yu-8 anti-submarine missiles and a 24-cell FL-3000N short-range anti-air missiles

Interesting what they do with the original Moskit, Sunburn and SA-N-12 SAM ?

I remember seeing a Moskit used as a static display on a naval base. There is a picture of that somewhere in this forum. I would think the remaining Moskits and Shtils have been reserved for the remaining two Sovremenny that isn't going to start their refits until some years from now.

Plus also, the fate of many an older and nearly expired missile is that they are converted into target drones. Many of China's HQ-2 SAM inventory went that way.

How about coastal defense? or just to saturate enemy SAM, just fire randomly from land base during the conflict ?

So it looks like Type 901 formerly pennant 965 is now pennant 903.
Hi!
Why are they give new pennant numbers to some units?
Is there a list of changes or which units/classes are affected?
cheers

He mis-identified the ship. 965 is still 965, and 903 is a different class of replenishment ship from type 901.

But curiously one of the Type 901s has indeed been renumbered.View attachment 76633
Yes, that is interesting. Since we don't have news of launch of new replenishment ships, looks like one of type 901 has its pennant number changed.

Also I couldn't find any ship with pennant number of 903 from type 903A. So this one could also be a re-numbered.

Could be there is an on-going standardization of pennant numbering ( and re-numbering) of replenishment ships from "8XX to 9XX" to just "9XX", to distinguish replenishment ships from other auxiliary ships. My 2 cent's thought.
