What I mean is for China to strike military targets inside the US mainland and take out bases, manufacturing, storages etc. That is currently not easy or even likely for China while the reverse is not true. The US do have methods of overwhelming and overcoming air defenses. Even if China takes out US bases in the area and only has to deal with carrier battle groups, they can still strike at targets inside China using cruise missiles and conventionally armed ballistic missiles. China needs to save its own for end of world type scenarios. Anyway that's pure guesswork and speculation on my part.
I don't mean CONUS I mean all the forward US bases in Asia is fair game and all are within reached of IRBM Guam too is not going to be unscathed once the war start
I don't know where you get the idea that it is easy to penetrate China airspace Read this via 52051

During a talk holding in a research workshop, the chief scientist of the China's largest radar group, CETC, Dr Wu Jianqi, told the audience that China's anti-stealth radar is the world most advanced anti-stealth radar.

It solved all the tech difficulties that other countries failed to solve and the 4th generation anti-stealth radar CETC developed, their radar, is the world's only anti-stealth radar that can not only spot but also track and guide fire-control radar to attack enemy stealth aircrafts in a range of over 500 km.

During the talk, he give an example that their last generation anti-stealth radar trackF-22 fighters in East Asia flying 450 km away.

And he told the audience China airforce now cover the entire China coastline with such highly advanced anti-stealth radar, such that US stealth fighters will be meaningless.

Just like I said it before, China's radar tech is likely leave the US in the dust.

Today these metric radars cover all coastal areas.

Any chance its only a confidence boosting metric? Or is USAF SEAD really made ineffective?

Not really China has been developing novel approach in radar design for years now There is this quantum radar an Photonic radar

Plus they have OVH radar for years and recently completed the 3rd installation to cover the approach from Japan sea Now the coast and southwest are all covered

The quantum radar with single photon detection, reach 130 km. At least four Chinese institutions, including the 14th CETC, have contributed to its development.

Stealth Killer? Russia's Sixth-Generation Fighter Might Have a "Radio-Photonic Radar"

Potentially, such a radar system could allow the Russians to develop a weapons quality track on a stealth aircraft if it proves to be successful.

unmanned aircraft could be equipped with what is described as a “radio-photonic radar.”

If the Russians succeed in developing such systems, Moscow would be in possession of a sensor with far greater range and resolution—high enough to develop a three dimensional image of an airborne target—than anything currently in operation around the world. Potentially, such a radar system could allow the Russians to develop a weapons quality track on a stealth aircraft if it proves to be successful.

Other researchers—including one from China—have followed up on the PHODIR team’s work to address some of the limitations of current photonic radar technology.

“The signal processing in the sampling receiver is still a main limitation of the operation frequency and bandwidth,”

.

“To down-convert the high-frequency RF signals, microwave photonic frequency conversion and time-stretched analog-to-digital conversion techniques have been proposed, but it is still hard for a traditional radar receiver to process the down-converted baseband or intermediate frequency (IF)-band signals if a very large operation bandwidth is adopted.”

The Chinese researchers posed a solution to that problem in their paper.

“We propose and demonstrate a photonics-based real-time high-range-resolution radar incorporating optical generation and processing of broadband LFM signals,” the researchers wrote.

“In the transmitter, a broadband LFM signal is generated by frequency quadrupling of a low-speed electrical signal applying a single integrated electro-optical modulator. In the receiver, the reflected LFM signal is de-chirped to a low-frequency signal based on photonic frequency mixing. The implementation of photonic de-chirping can directly process high-frequency and large bandwidth signals without any electrical frequency conversion. After photonic de-chirping, ADC with a moderate sampling rate can be used in the receiver and real-time signal processing is realizable. In the proposed system, the bandwidth limitations due to electrical signal generation and processing is eliminated. The maximum operation bandwidth is mainly determined by the electro-optical devices, which can be tens or even hundreds of gigahertz. As a result, real-time radar detection with a very high range resolution can be realized.”

China Develops Prototype of Microwave Photonics-based Radar
Jun 14, 2017

China has developed its first prototype of microwave photonics-based radar and completed the imaging test, which analysts said could revolutionize the imaging performance and applications of the radar system and enhance the country's national security.

In the external field tests on aircraft including Boeing 737, the microwave photonics-based radar prototype which adopts the bistatic radar system and photon structure can clearly identify the structural details of the objects including the aircraft engine, tail section and flap track, the Institute of Electronics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences said in a statement on its website on Monday.

Compared with traditional radar models, the microwave photonics-based radar can produce and process radar wideband signals more efficiently and faster by leveraging the rich spectral resources and photonic technologies, the Science and Technology Daily reported Monday.

The new radar prototype can capture images of high resolution, which is significantly higher than the images detected by radar of the similar models in the international arena, the report said.

"The new radar prototype marks a milestone in China's development of radar technology. By identifying the aircraft engines, the microwave photonics-based radar demonstrates its strong penetrating performance," Li Daguang, a professor at the National Defense University of the People's Liberation Army, told the Global Times on Tuesday.

If the system is used in military applications, it could significantly enhance the country's ability to safeguard its national security as the system can help identify the types of vehicles or objects in a long distance such as jet fighters or bomb carriers, he added. (Global Times)
