A comprehensive support experiment drill with multi-types of fighters on the double-runway under information conditions was recently held by the Air Force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at an airport in southwest China. Nearly 100 fighters of over 10 different types open the curtain of the base-oriented transformation of the combat support mode of the PLA Air Force.The use of the double-runway airport greatly enhances airport capacity and flight service efficiency. Yes, it is very impressive to run two such large exercises concurrently, the Red Flag exercise at Dingxin and the mobility exercise in Chengdu MR, principally at the vastly enlarged Qionglai airbase with bombers, lots of FLANKERs and transports.

It's good thing to see China hasn't been too busy making new toys and forgetting to train. To be truly competitive will speak more about training and organizations, especially with China now incorporating so many new toys into their game and ridding the old ones. They will also have to see many challenges and changes to their doctrine and tune them to be right for China and the modern battlefield with the millions of dynamics. It can only be this way can they quickly catch up to the quality and standards of expertise and experiences possessed by Israelis and the Americans. I recall someone saying US clock 300hours for their pilots annually. If that's the case, China would need maybe 320-400 since the toys are too new and with the many new concepts and equipment being introduced.

Not too forget, China military are using large amount of simulator to increase their training time too. Things like emergency landing and lost control of fighter jet , recovery of jet from stalling are some important training that you are not able to test realistically from real flying the jet.
