H-20 bomber (with H-X, JH-XX)

Just found this cover and I must admit I'm a bit surprised to see it again after all the time.

I remember that there was once a time long, long ago, when we were quite sure that at least such a project was real ...

What do they say now??

:eek:Erospace Knowledge ?

Based on the specs the H-20 seems to be quite limited in its ambitions compared to the B-21 Raider and the Tupolev PAK DA. Nowhere near the loadout it can carry and the distance it can fly compared to those other two. Its just a artist rendition of the H-20. I'm still hoping for a flying wing design like the B-2 Spirit or the B-21 Raider.

Sometimes I’m thinking does China really have a bomber programme ??
Probably less of a question about whether it has it and more of a question of what is it designed to be. Is it a drone, Is it manned, is it both? Where does it fit in the strategic mix (between MRBM and cruise missiles, between cruise missiles and MLRS, etc)? Who is it aimed at going against and their capabilities? Its usually those three questions more than anything that slow down programs.

From what I hear its the second question more than anything that is the point of contention and design waffling.

What if the flying wing has a different designation number ( granted its just a magazine cover)

I’m not sold on this particular representation. Its dimensions don’t seem to fulfill those necessary for even a regional, let alone a strategic, bomber. As I’ve suggested before, I think the PLAAF needs a platform with a 2500 mi combat radius and a 20,000 kg payload, and this depiction, to me, doesn’t suggest that capability.

30 meters long might be big enough for 20 tonnes of payload, especially if it’s on WS-15 class engines.
