I think we'll see it when the prototype is ready for flight. Given what we usually get at Xian it will be a satellite photo.
I think an FC-31 like reveal under tarpaulin is kind of unlikely. It's not like they will carry large parts of it on the roads like that.

In Germany we have a saying: thus is a useless discussion in the question "what to cool with der unlaid eggs?"
Imo the H-20 don't ready yet ans i don't expect it to fly within the next two years. Aß such there is nothing to show this year and most likely still nothing in 2022.

Then how do you translate this?

If it doesn't even achieve by 2022, then how are they aiming for complete modernization by 2027?

Actually I don't know - esp. since the site does not open - but IMO it is neither an official claim by the PLAAF to "make-pla-on-par-with-us-army-by-2027". I would rate this report as BS.

Thanks for the links, but even then t "build a 'fully modern army' by 2027" does not mean it has to have each and every single equivalent weapon system like the US and even less an operational stealth bomber.

Anyway, IMO we can at best hope to sea that type but by 2027 it will be in no way operational.

Damn, i was hoping H20 would be flying over indians early next year. Guess we have to wait longer :(

Wow, why so pessimistic.

Are there any technologies China lacks for this stealth bomber, or is it lack of priority? America not only has had the B2 for over 2 decades, it has already flown a prototype of the next gen stealth bomber.

So in your estimate, the next gen US stealth bomber will be operational before the first gen Chinese stealth bomber? Seems the gap in some areas is widening then.

An operational H-20 by 2027 is far from a sure thing.
If H-20 literally makes its maiden flight next year, then yes, being in operational combat service by 2027 may be plausible, but right now things are up in the air and making it seem like H-20 will definitively be in service by 2027 is a very bold claim to make.

That isn't called being pessimistic, but just sensible, and reflective of the time for new weapons to be developed.

And afaik the US has not flown B-21 yet.

Is it then a lack of national priority, funding constraints, or technical know-how that is causing it to be so far out? In almost every other facet military or economic China has concrete plans of producing a prototype/test article/etc

Only things I haven’t noticed obvious progress of (or much optimism of seeing it soon) are stealth bombers or modern subs (type 96, type 95, etc).

As for the Raider you’re right the first flight is expected in 2021, likely to be pushed into 2022.
