Man-portable mine and obstacle clearing pack, basically a portable rocket-projected line charge explosive. Rocket launch rail is integrated into the carrying case.

Explain like I'm Navy
A MCLC (pronounced Mic-LiC), is a tube of explosives pulled out by a small rocket that flies out in a certain direction. Usually, they are deployed in 2 parallel lines.

The explosives then fall to the ground, spaced both in length and width based on calculated pressure necessary to clear the lane.

The last charge should be an acceptable safe distance from the shooter.

Then the charge is blown, creating a path in the dirt for friendly forces to advance.

In the past, MCLICs usually come in the form of a towed trailer, behind the combat engineer's M113.

This new PLA form factor allows dismounted infantry to have a miniaturized clearing system without waiting for the engineer in the rear with the gear to pull up.

Of course, there are other uses for such a charge. You can pull apart the explosive to be used independently, or if you are pissed enough, you can blow a whole structure in 1/2 or smithereens based on the size and strength of the structure.

Not sure exactly where to post this, so I thought this would be a good thread. We've seen lots of comments before about how the massed, martial arts style of rehearsal training was unrealistic. And although that is true and there is no doubt that the PLA did also conduct more realistic hand to hand combat training (and we have seen these before too).

Here is a clip from a recent TV show showing some Bayonet training and practice. The traditional massed synchronised sessions still happen, but this is a glimpse into some of the more practical training they do.

Ironically, these would be absolutely nightmares to face in urban combat against an asymmetrical opponent.

Set one up in the right place and you can clear an entire street of advancing enemy troops and light armour. And best of all, you can do it remotely.

Can someone here correct or hone my understanding about the PLA modernization/mechanization effort was apparently based or at least inspired from an American military iconoclast in Col.Douglas MacGregor (ret.) I read somewhere that this American officer's book namely "Breaking the Phalanx" was used more or less as a source of inspiration by the PLA with it's push for modernization. Thanks in advance.
