Is it a prototype under testing or already confirmed for service? Also, why make another 122mm truck-mounted howitzer? I thought PCL-09 is good enough.

Is is widely deployed with PLA army group 74, 75, 78. It is not 122mm it is 155mm gun much heavier gun, longer range and can fire precision krasnopol or its copy.It is definitely better than 122m gun beside range , explosive power, It is also semi automatic, faster deployment, has digital fire control system. Yet light enough 25 ton and low profile can be air transported with Y 20, compact design therefore can negotiate curvy and winding road in the mountainous are of Tibet. PCL 09 cannot do all of those

Please re-read what I wrote. I replied to @yanyan25 post about a new 122mm wheeled SPH with a 4x4 configuration called PCL-161. I presume what you're talking about is PCL-181, and I do know it's a new 155mm wheeled SPH. I was posting about a different SPH, so please be more careful with your future replies. :)

It does not said SPH it said truck mounted howitzer So you need to be more specific in what you are saying less people get mislead with your description 4X4 is not the same as truck if you meant SPH

You know what? I don't want to get into the semantics here, but if you want to reply to a chain of messages/replies, please read the content of previous messages. That truck is a 4x4, and with a howitzer mounted on it, so it's an SPH. And just so you know, @Hendrik_2000 , your insistence rubbed me the wrong way. You replied to me with an off-topic answer and then asked me to be more specific when it seems like you didn't even bother to read what I actually asked about. The internet is often tone-deaf, and I'm pretty sure you'll rub more people the wrong way if you keep writing like that.
