That's why China need a robust flat tv industry.:D
That reminds me, the last time (think it was '09 or '08) that there was a PLA exhibition in HK, the flatscreen display (touch screen interactive tactical map-ish thing) they use back than was from Panasonic, made in Japan...plasma screen if I remember correctly.

If that big table is their "for real" multifunction display, I wonder if they do managed to get that MIC, and LED...

Whether a specific display is made in Japan or China is not clear, nor of a meaningful matter as PLA won't waste something they bought years ago just for the sake of nationalistic sentiment. The reality is that China is the number one maker of LCD displays of all sizes today. BOE even supply LCD panels to LG and Samsung. What China is still behind is OLED, but that is only an issue to consumer TV and mobile phone.
