LS376309 is not a license plate number because it has six Arabic numerals. By law, military vehicle plates can only have five numerals. Go back an re-read my previous post and its sources instead of following some random Twitter users.

Here's an example. In the video below, Mengshi-III vehicles have their license plates attached to the rear left. Each plate has five numerals, as required by law.

I'm sure there's a much more conciliatory way to convey all of this information.

On a more serious note, why was a US officer doling out the medals rather than Austrian? Also, what make of skis do the PLA use, both in this competition and generally? I'm guessing all mountain troops use telemark bindings, at least the French and Japanese troops I've seen at various resorts do.

I dont think PLA are using telemark bindings. Looks like standard touring bindings with the ascent skins attached.

And Atomic brand belongs to Amer Sports which is a subsidary of China Anta Sports. Therefore they are using chinese skis.

You're right. Odd choice for military use given the extra cost and weight over telemarks, maybe just for the competition?

Might be owned by Amer but Atomic is definitely an Austrian brand. Perhaps all the teams were required to use Atomic.

Personally I've only ever used Rossignol or K2 long term.

I dont know if telemark skis can acend well, Ive never used them. Touring skis works well in both ascent and descent. Agree touring skis definitely cost more, but one of the reasons is the lightening that is done to them sometimes vs normal alpine skis. You can still get very advanced touring ski sets for about $2000 and fairly light, so maybe not that big of a concern?

I share your assessment that these are likely Atomic brand. Correct that they are owned by Anta, as for the skis and bindings if they are Atomic they would have been produced at the Austrian facility. China does produce touring skis and bindings for other brands, but they are not owned within Amer Sports.
