Do we know anything about the new ammo that have been rumored? I wonder if the pressure will be raised to 5.56 level to compensate for a shorter barrel?

Tell me more of this rumor. I haven't heard anything about a new ammo. Is it replacing the 5.8?

The 208th Institute, the R&D facility which gave birth to the new AR, received commendation recently.

Very condensed explaination and new / now officially confirmed info(?) only for our non-Chinese speaking members:
1. The R&D period of the new AR took 5 years;
2. 300 specimen made during R&D;
3. over 2 million rounds of ammo consumed;
4. seems to be using the rumoured new ammo (those new ammo box observed)

Unsure about the context or the venue. If it was an official presentation, then the designation is likely QBZ191 until further notice.

It is almost certain.

This seems to be a screen dump of design software by 208, hardly would 208 makes up a number of QBZ. Unlike 208 internal name/number, QBZ numbers are registered national standard, can not be reused or changed if used.

Secondly, the event is "awarding ceremony to 208 by State Asset Commission of State Council", it can not be any more official than this.

By naming it 191, it may indicate that it is certified in 2019, the last 1 may be either January, or variant 1 (the regular rifle).
