Thought we should have a thread for this as we start to get tiny tidbits for it over the coming years.

Hongjian brought this to attention over at CDF
Apparently this is a proposal by Northwest Polytechnic University and 601 (SAC), of a 6th generation fighter.
The website shows quite a few innovative proposals by various aerospace institutes, sponsored by the PLAAF and AVIC (?) I believe -- apparently the "6th annual defence aviation competition". Some of the ideas are absolutely ridiculous (including X wing J-20, dozens of UCAVs, torpedo AShMs and avatar-esque tiltrotors), but some of them are plausible, and this competition I believe is related to the UAV cup a few years ago which was the same one where we first saw the model of J-31 and Lijian UCAV as well. So don't discount everything as just fantasy -- these are ideas meant to generate innovation, done by aviation institutes, from what I can see.
The 6th gen proposal is just that, a proposal. I suspect the PLAAF has done more in depth studies on its own, but it is good to see that an institute has independently begun looking into it. I suspect CAC and all the other major players in AVIC have also begun their own independent studies.
For now, it is interesting to see how the first vision of 6th gen from China might look.

I encourage everyone to take a look at the website. This competition might hold a few concepts that will be pursued and developed into reality by PLAAF.

I notice that I am the first to like this blitzo, I would add that for Chinese posters, they regard the current fifth gen as fourth gen, and would regard the coming sixth gen as fifth gen, just making sure that we further confuse our readers??? LOL

Yep, acknowledged, although the thread about J-XX (before we knew J-20 was the designation), was called 5th generation fighter or something, I believe. Going by western nomenclature is just for brevity's sake.

I would personally get rid of the canards and add LEVCONS instead. Plus have 2 variants, one with YF-23/B-2 like nozzles (similar to the art above) for more stealthy strike role, and one with more conventional nozzle with 3D TVC preferably Fluidic Thrust Vectoring.

PS: maybe I should add my own fan-art :D

It's not a proposal competition exclusively for the 6th gen fighter, but a general proposal for all future aircraft ideas, so you will also see ideas for other type of aircraft.
