I wonder why they didn't pick the Z-10 at first, was it Pakistan trying to maintain ties with turkey/us or is the Z-10 really weaker in terms of performance?
Is there any differences in capabilities of the T-129 VS Z-10ME?
From what I understand the T129 has very good hot and high altitude performance. It is a no brainer because of its MTOW of just 5 ton with 2x1375hp engines.

It is a light and powerful helicopter.

Its a "no brainer" unless you want a helicopter without an engine (blocked by the US)
The only choice for Pakistan was always the Z-10.

Similar to the J-10C situation, contrary to the fanboys in a certain forum who were dreaming about the PAF getting Vipers, Gripens.

Availability of a platform trumps operational performance

It has to be said that we did not get any additional sources about Pakistan's J10. We're still at those unit patches and that one news conference. Why haven't we seen additional new articles about such an imminent service entry?

Deino, in your opinion, how likely is it that A) Pakistan has indeed already signed the contract for J10s and B) that first planes will be shown in Pakistan in March, as that one interview suggested?

Sorry ... school has begun again and so there is a lot at work, I missed to answer.

In fact I'm a bit confused at the moment ... my stomach and based on those guys I thrust, it is real, however this minister's statement is not what i would call a "smoking gun". Anyway, in conclusion I'm almost 95% it will come.

AMEN to this ... but they were not only dreaming "the PAF getting Vipers, Gripens", but also about J-11Bs, J-15s including the Liaoning, J-16 & J-16Ds, J-20s but not to forget €-fighters! ;)

And now there is news that the T129 deal is still ongoing:

"Pakistani military and diplomatic sources stated to SavunmaSanayiST.com that the purchase of the T129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter has not been given up."

"Military and diplomatic officials made a statement to SavunmaSanayiST.com regarding the aforementioned statement, which was covered in the Turkish and Pakistani media. In the statement made by the authorities; It was stated that Pakistan did not give up on the purchase of 30 TAI T129 ATAK Helicopters from Turkey and that the aforementioned statements of the Pakistani Military Spokesperson were misunderstood. Turkey and Pakistan continue their close cooperation to bring the ATAK helicopter to the Pakistan Army."

Depends on how long they want to wait. Worst case, they could wait for that indigenous Turkish turboshaft to qualify for the T129 (I think it's suitable for the T129, right?)
