I built a MQ-4C Triton in 1/72 scale. PLATZ is the only makr I am aware of and it goes nicely with my Wlech Models (also the only make of this) P-8A in 1/72 scale.

This is a hight tech BAMS and PSSD2 mothdology for the US and its allies.

By placing squadrons of these aircraft in well protected bases all over the world, and then establishing highly encrupted communications for them...they can operate at 60,000 to 70,0000 feet on long term missions and provide an alternate data communications for US and allied forces to continue using precision guided munitions around the world, even if satcom goes down.

With communications spanning to Golbal Hawks, E-3 sentries, E-2D Hawkeyes and other persistant, high flying UAVs, the critical targetingdate can be estblished and dissemenated to bases, to C&C, all the way to the Presidential Situational Room, donw to the individual aircraft , squadrons, vessels, and commanders to maek mission decisions based on real time date.

Here are some pictures from VUP-19 and my model that I have tried to get correct for now...and will replace wth the decals/markings with the actual when my decal maker fiend finishes the actual Squadron markings:

The key features of the aircrft include:

  • Commercial off-the-shelf open architecture mission control system
  • Net-ready interoperability solution (systems working together)
  • Communications bandwidth management
  • Dual redundant flight controls and surfaces
  • Afloat Level II payload sensor data via line-of-sigh
The specifications include:

Some more pics of VUP-19 and my model. Teactual wing span on the MQ-4c is about 130 ft....and on the model that transl;ates into 22", which is pretty large.

More Pics:

...and the last of them:

Each squadron will have 4 or 5 aircraft.

1 - For current flight operations/missions
1 - Ready stand by
1 - Maintenance work up to prepare to go into standby
1 - Going into maintenance
1 or 2 - Reserve/Training/Test

In this way, and with the amount of territory an aircraft can cover with each flight, and when takinginto consideration the Global Hawk, E-3s and E-2D planned flights and missions, a significant art of the world can be overedwith the aircraft that will be available.

Anyhow, that's the plan and it will definitely take some time, and some tweeking to work it up.
