I read a thread on this forum once on a novel about an American nuclear submarine colliding with a Chinese submarine, and the American submarine being captured by the Chinese. What book was that? And I also remember seeing another book in WHSmith once (i don't remember the author or the title) about a possible war between the United States and an Alliance between China and Iran. Does anyone else know of any good books about Sino-U.S. confrontations, World war 3, stuff like that? I'm starting to develop a taste for cold-war and military fiction.:china:

... he's kind bias against China and most of his works are make believe like how a terrorist with a sub vaporizes the USS Thomas Jefferson and it's surrounding ships..
The most powerful warship in the world, the nuclear-powered U.S. Nimitz-Class aircraft carrier is seen as impregnable. But when the USS Thomas Jefferson suddenly disappears at sea, the Pentagon is stunned. There was no warning. No apparent attack. And no survivors. All signs point to a tragic nuclear accident.

While the world stands in shock, reports suggest that it was no accident. A rouge submarine armed with nuclear warheads may be on the loose. Where did it come from? How could it get within striking distance of the Thomas Jefferson? Worse yet, where is it now and could it strike again? The tension mounts, and a deadly chase begins.

Armed with stolen U.S. military technology, the Chinese are producing a frightening new breed of weaponry, led by the ICBM submarine Xia III -- a vessel that just might be able to launch a nuclear warhead across the Pacific Ocean and take out an American West Coast city.

National Security Adviser Admiral Arnold Morgan can'tlet that happen, and he dispatches the most stealthy hunter-killer submarine in the U.S. fleet, the 9,000-ton ultrasecret Seawolf, deep into the dark, forbidden waters of the South China Sea. But then the unthinkable happens: Seawolf, collides with a Chinese destroyer and falls into enemy hands. A team of cunning Navy SEALs -- the biggest Special Forces assault group assembled since Vietnam -- is sent in to free the captive Seawolf, crew and bring them home. The American Eagle confronts the Chinese Dragon with the balance of world power on the line. Failure is not an option . . .

I have most of his books, only read them for the fun of it not for military knowledge.

read "sharks mutiny" by the same guy, its about china taking over taiwan over some really gay reasons eg. wanting the artifacts from the taipei museum taken by chang kai shek after he fled the mainland.

the one part i liked most was when the kilos lured the JFK into a trap and seriously damaged it. but what i dont like about his writing is that he makes the chinese soldiers look like noobs against the SEALS... and seriously who thinks a m60 machine gun can down a helix???
