J-XY/J-35 carrier-borne fighter thread

Interesting, but again:

- who is the original poster?
- how reliable is he (or she)?
- it's overall a bit confusing: we all know 02 exists since some time and even that it flew already .. so why the 7. question?

No clue; I **think** it originated from that J-16 thread in CJDBY but one of the posters mentioned that the post has now been deleted.

The 7th question was referring to the re-painted #02, I think.

Maybe what they call 2.0 is not what we call 2.0. similar to 002 and 003 carrier issue. Maybe their 2.0 refers to a planaf/plaaf standard plane with additional design changes.

pretty sure based on those particular questions and answers the 2.0 they're referring to is the same one that we are referring to...

Not sure if it fits here correctly, but even most of us are expecting a FC-31 based design as the future carrierborne fighter, here is a test from CAC, which looks remarkable similar to the J-20's front fuselage:

What Factory 132 was testing with help of a Chinese university at least 2 years ago, for the landing gear of a "shipborne" aircraft :

The chinese words saids catapult shock experiment(弹射冲击试验), so this is the real thing huh? And it's from CAC? wow.... Not sure the cross section really matches J-20 though

This SCMP story suggests a shortened version of the J-20 will be developed for carrier usage, with the type having beaten the FC-31. At Zhuhai last year AVIC showed J-20's taking off from a future warship. I would regard the J-20 as being too large for carrier operations. I'd expect the wingspan would need to be greater for slowspeed approaches, but you'd need to add wing-fold capability, which I would assume will complicate RCS.
