I have no issue if China copied the design 1:1 if it helps them defend their country better. I'm talking specifically about nomenclature. It takes zero effort to change a name and there are an infinite amount of numbers you could label it. Why number it exactly as the airplane every person is accusing it of copying off of? It just gives haters more ammo to baselessly criticize China.

Like I asked earlier, did they embrace the copying everything from America meme? They should label the type 095 as the Virginia class for full potential.
PLA navy submarines use numbers as a naming convention not letters. J35 fits the naming convention for fighters.

Nay... The J-20 prototypes were all numbered 20XX. Fout-digit serial numbers. Following this logic this is 350-03. So clearly it's gonna be names J-350.

At least China is far more judicious with naming than Russians and no worse than Americans (Is F-35 a full generation ahead of F-22? What's it with F-20?).
Logically I J-20 should be called "J-21" and J-XY should be called "J-25". But to my ear "J-25" just doesn't have a nice ring to it. It sounds like refurbished Soviet era relic.

I think it is less arrogant than 57 = 22+35 but that’s just me.
I still prefer J-21, but then again there is KF-21…
