Back in the early 2010s when I asked around whether it would be possible to restart the F-22’s production people who would know told me that the production tooling for it had been scrapped. You’d essentially be spending years to try to reverse engineer an old plane.
please understand their thinking.

1. we read many times that it is not possible to restart the f22 production. Yet they continue to believe.

2. they love their successful designs and unwilling to move on just like their favourite 737. Now it’s max out.

let them continue

Scrapped/repurposed, yeah. They're not gonna do it with an atrocious projected cost and painful amounts of effort just for it to be replaced almost immediately.

This is not in fact an uncommon problem. Around 2020 or 2021, the USAF actually published a RFP seeking to reverse engineer some sort of heat exchanger for the B-2.

This means not only was the tooling gone, but Northrop Grumman or a subcontractor had destroyed or lost the blueprints too (either that or the Chinese must have stolen the last remaining copy) . . .

Looking back at a couple pages in the previous J-20 thread during its first flight:

As I was too young to be even a tiny bit knowledgeable on China, let alone PLA-related stuffs back then - I don't actually quite grasp how monumental the moment is for PLA watchers and fanboys alike when the first J-20 took to the skies 14 years ago, when I started following PLA developments about 3 years ago.

However, and thankfully - I have the chance to "re-experience" that degree of excitement and elation on the afternoon of 26th December last year. The feelings is just... kinda hard to describe. Surreal, even.

Chinese military fans of this era (post-2011) truly are the luckiest. And hopefully, we'll have more lucky events in the coming years and decades...

Was trying to track the number of new, additional brigades which switched over to using j-20 in 2024 but scramble doesn't really list any yet.
They just say one brigade was rumored to get j-20 in 2024.

Which of course is much fewer than 2022, when it listed 3 brigades as sure, and 2023, when they listed 3 as sure and one more as rumored.

As it's unlikely production just ebbed, much more likely explanation is that scramble doesn't have up to date info.

But it's been a year now, and still no info?

Are there any other sources which might provide more up to date info on new j-20 brigades in 2024?
