Apparently the first clear image of at least a part of the improved J-15B (?) - serial variant of the J-15D - clearly showing toned-down markings in different position, no PLA symbol, new formation lights, the PL-10-typical AAM wing-tip pylons and different engines.

In fact, I‘m confused by this one … it looks as if it uses the old AL-31F engines, but the tail is clearly different as well like the wing-tip pylons lok. more like PL-10 capable. I would love to see the front of this aircraft.
Why would they still use ALs instead of the new WS-10s?

Would it be possible for them to just carry on using the naval AL-31F for the catapault varients just for the sake of it being more proven (and/or not having to deal with the logistics of a new engine)? Bit flimsy of an argument but that's the best I can come up with at the moment..
