J-15 carrier-borne fighter thread

They could have ported over systems from J16. I do think that carrier based heavy fighter should be twin seater. Much like the F14. You have single seater J-35 to clear the skies and you have J15 to do strike /anti ship and J15D to do EW.
Personally I would agree to have at least a substantial number of twin-seat J-15B (is that what we call the catapault version? or is it J-15T?) for better capabilities regarding anti-surface ops and interception, if the added empty weight doesn't impact the restrictions on carrier landing too much.

What pod is that in the background?

That's the left wing one. To me it looks more like the right wing one. I guess that would be rzk930-22.

Oh sorry ... I missed "right wing one"! Indeed maybe since these fin-like antennas are missing.

However this bulge irritates me (which on the J-15's pod is not visible) and the bulged part on the bottom is missing!

Isn't that large rectangular gray part of the pod near the J15 somewhat similar to the bulge on the -22 pod on J16D? Due to perspective, we don't really know if the rectangular gray part is a bulge or not, but it seems plausible that both parts on both pods are some sort of side looking arrays.

It's not the same pod, of course. There are numerous little differences like you've shown on your images. But generally, of the 4 pods on the J16D, to me it looks like the most similar one.
