J-15 carrier-borne fighter thread

You can built J 15 in no time but training pilot take a long time and this is basically the bottle neck of China fledging carrier program. But here is the good news from Henri K. I check few page back no one posted this news. Assuming each carrier carry 24 J 15 they need 24+ 8(spare) pilot so 32 pilot. So using this guesstimate China now can equipped 2-1/2 carriers

The 13th promotion of Chinese naval aviation J-15 student pilots seems to have passed their landing qualification on one of the aircraft carriers in Bohai Bay between November 22 and 28. The estimate is based on a total of 65-85 pilots qualified to date

Lower end of that estimate, 65 pilots, seems unlikely, given that we have at least 50 airframes observed so far. There's no way there are just 1.3 pilots ready per airframe for such a program that's gearing up. Such ratios are ok for fleets of 1000 planes, but not for a specialized fleet that's only being born. If there were just 65 pilots ready, we wouldn't have seen so many airframes as there'd be little need to rush and build as many.

85 pilots for 50 planes seems realistic, though.

What do you think @Bltizo ?

Based on what we know I think it is quite save to assume, there were 24 J-15 in Batch 01 & 02 (no. 01-24 albeit with eventually two being lost). In Batch 03 the numbers started with 30-35 (6 J-15s) and then jumped to 60-73 (14 more J-15s) and as it seems, no. 74 was the first Batch 04 J-15. If there are indeed all J-15s from no. 74-87 - and IMO it is likely - this would mean already 14 confirmed J-15s in Batch 04.

In summary:
Batch 01 = 10
Batch 02 = 14
Batch 03 = 24
Batch 04 = so far 14
-----
= 62 J-15s

You say batch 03 were serials 25 through 30 and 60 through 73. That's 20 in total. Yet you say Batch 03 has 24 airframes in total. Hence the question: which additional serials denote those 4 missing airframes?

Really, then it was a typo ... I wanted to say:

Whooooooah def new J-15. First impressions: different IRST, different wingtip pylons. Can't see front gear but I bet it's the catapult version. The antennas on the side of the cockpit are gone, and array on the wings. Also maybe it's just me but the position of the refueling probe seems to be different maybe new radar?
