Next year!?? LMAO!!!

It's a joke since I am constantly being mocked by a certain Pakistani idiot who claimed, Pakistan can get anything from China also for free, it only has to ask, and China delivers ... including the Liaoning and J-15s!
Yes, I know! Nor am I really expecting PAF to get J-31 next year...

I wonder what PLAN will do with all the OG J-15s once J-15B (and J-25) take over on flight decks? The airframes aren't old and should have plenty of life left, unless they've been flogged hard.

Nothing … they can remain in service for several years on board the Liaoning & Shandong, maybe will get an MLU including the J-11BGs AESA, but otherwise I don‘t expect any major changes anytime soon.

If they cease production of STOBAR J-15s and only produce new J-15Bs (and eventual J-35s), IMO it makes a lot of sense for them to use progressively use each "backbenched" STOBAR for training/reserve purposes as newly produced J-15B (and J-35) airframe take up the regular frontline duties.

There are probably a decent fraction (20-30 airframes) of the original 100 odd J-15s which have had their airframes run hard which would be retired soon anyway, and of the rest, those can be progressively moved to less frontline roles with time.

I think there is an interesting question: is there possible, that the OG J-15 can be modified to be catapult capable, with some relatively small modifiction, such as replace front landing gear and some front frame parts during MLU?

Yes, it can be modified to be catapult capable but No, not with SMALL modification.

It will be costly major MLU to make them catapult capable and probably time consuming, and in view of the near futue J35 entering service, not worth the effect either.

Not that simple. The pull from the catapult affects the entire fuselage.
