47,001,088 views of Korean pop sensation Wonder Girls' "Nobody"

This is the first time and probably the last time that I will step out of the Sinosphere. However, with 47,001,088 views, the Korean pop sensation Wonder Girls are simply incredible. The performance and choreography for "Nobody" are outstanding.

The original video with 47,001,088 views. Almost one percent of the planet's population has seen this video.

Popular culture

For some unknown reason, which scientists are still researching (e.g. cause could be genetic), a small minority of the population cannot appreciate popular culture.

In the past day or two, Asia's most successful group, Wonder Girls' "Nobody" video has garnered over 300,000 more viewers. The current tally is 42,364,340 views.

Wonder Girls' "Nobody" currently has 28,218 votes for "likes" and 3,623 "dislikes."

The rating is 88.6% favorable (e.g. 28,218 "likes"/31,841 total votes).

My hypothesis to explain the small minority that do not appreciate popular culture is that it is most likely due to a generation gap. If you're 65 years old and your favorite movie is "On Golden Pond," you are not likely to enjoy the Wonder Girls' "Nobody."

The Wonder Girls' "Nobody" makes me want to dance. I'm going out to buy their CD.

OH! It makes you feel like getting up to dance, PHEW! thats ok then Martin, for a moment there I thought you were trying to convince some of us that they could sing and dance. Where has SK been?, that type of act was a dime a dozen 40yrs ago.

by the way the audience in example2 did not appear to be enjoying it.

"Wonder Girls

Hailing from South Korea, the Wonder Girls are quickly becoming stars in the Western World. As the first Korean act to have a song enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Wonder Girls have already opened for two of today’s hottest musical acts: the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber. The group, composed of 5 triple-threat talents, is just beginning to make its mark on pop culture.

The Wonder Girls (Sohee An, Yubin Kim, Sun Min, Yenny Park, and Lim Woo) were introduced to America by MTV in 2007 on a program called MTV Wonder Girls that outlined each member and featured their first performance in the MTV Studio. The same year, the girls debuted their first single “Irony” on their first album The Wonder Begins.

Shorty after, the Wonder Girls, reached international fame when they released their first full length album The Wonder Years which included the chart topping singles “Nobody” and “Tell Me”. The “Tell Me” video circulated on YouTube, and the group’s dance abilities became famous from France to the Philippines. After releasing their second single “This Fool” the girls were featured on a variety of television shows, radio stations, and music festivals. In 2008 the Wonder Girls released their second full length album The 3rd Project featuring their chart topping hit “So Hot”.

The Wonder Girls made their American performance debut in 2009 with shows in Los Angeles and New York as well as for Iggy MTV. After releasing their single “Now” and an English version of “Nobody”, the girls joined the Jonas Brothers throughout North America on the “Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009” as their opening act. “Nobody” entered Billboard’s Hot 100 in October 2009, making the Wonder Girls the first Korean group to enter the chart. The song became an international phenomenon and the accompanying dance was done all over the world, as is evident by countless YouTube videos.

The Wonder Girls have appeared on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and “The Wendy William’s Show”. They have performed with Justin Bieber in Los Angeles and at KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2009. They have also been noticed by InStyle, J-14 Magazine, Radio Disney, Chicago Tribune, and have been championed by Perez Hilton.

Among their many awards, the Wonder Girls have garnered “Song of the Year” and “Best Music Video” for their single “Nobody” as well as “Best Female Group” at the 2008 MNet KM Music Festival Awards, “Artist of the Year” at the 18th Seoul Music Awards, “Group of the Year” at the 2009 Korean Music Awards, “Best Asia Artist of the Year” at the 2009 MTV Style Gala and “Artist of the Year” at the Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism. Additionally, the Wonder Girls have secured endorsements with KIA, Sony Ericsson, Vita 500 Energy Drink, Samsung, Baskin Robbins and more.

2010 saw the Wonder Girls take on their first North American tour, which hit 20 cities in the U.S. and Canada, and release their single “2 Different Tears.” The song marked the first time any musical act simultaneously released their music worldwide in three languages; English, Chinese and Korean. The “2 Different Tears” release, which was shown live on Ustream and hosted by super-blogger Perez Hilton, featured the a Wonder Girls’ performance, world premiere of the music video and a live Q&A with over 60 thousand fans participating."

Hey we can agree on something:)

Martins last post just proves that todays youth have no appreciation of talent.
so they made the top 100 in the charts. Back in 1960's there was a Japanese singer who made the top 10, unfortunately i cant think of his name, Ill try to work on it.

Plastic looking girls with their singing and musical backing electronically enhanced/processed appears to be the order of the day. Ability wise they don't even come close to groups of yesteryear like Diana Ross and the Supremes , Bonnie Tyler to name a couple. Now they could sing without all that enhancement.

LOL, "popular culture" most often means "least common denominator". Face it, most of the pop culture out there is trash, mass produced and mass consumed, much like McDonald's fast food.
