I've tried my best to purge my data from any US based social media. The only on-line account that I have left with a US company is gmail. I'm looking for any alternatives to Gmail that are not US based? Thanks.

Yandex mail from Russia or QQ from China. Believe it or not the identity-checking system on QQ is quite easy to fool and there are a ton of fake identity generators out there. I'm registered as a 41-year old male from Yanliang district, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province lol. Believe it or not I even have my own fake ID card number lol.

Protonmail. Don't trust anything based in Russia or China. Protonmail may have been compromised by the Israelis. But its still better than the alternatives.

I was not aware of Tutanota. Will have to go try it out.
The protonmail story is that not long after they went GA they got hit by a massive DDOS attack. An Israeli company stepped in to help them with email and traffic routing. Someone claimed that latter company was Mossad or Mossad-backed. I don't think that's ever been conclusively proven. But that kind of tactic has been successfully used for spying in the past. So has standing up honeypots. The best advice is find something that is point to point if you really have to be secure or find a different way to get it there (carrier pigeons and one time pads anyone?).
