This thread is being created as a "go to" place for all forum members to find the latest announcements from the Forum Moderation Team regarding things members need to take into account and be aware of.

It can also be used by moderators to announce upcoming events of interest or general messages regarding the forum's use.

This is NOT a FAQ or a place for forum members to ask questions or post their own announcments.

Please do not respond on this thread to these announcements.

Here's the first message/announcment on this new thread to SD Forum members:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MODERATOR'S MESSAGE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

We have established numerous Military Forums and threads within each of them here on SD for the Chinese Military. We also have an entire forum dedicated to other militaries, where the Forum Management has come up with specific threads for some individual military powers, and other threads for entire regions. Within that forum we have also established some threads for specific, critical individual weapons systems for discussion.

From time to time we get individual news stories that are posted as new threads regarding those militaries, or things within those regions.

Please make sure, before you post a new thread, that it does not fit into an existing thread subject matter.

If we find new threads that do, we will move those posts and close those threads. We will inform those creating the new thread accordingly. If it continues to happen, a member will be WARNED. If it does not stop after a warning, a member may be SUSPENDED.

For example, today (Feb 11th, 2014) I had to close two threads about individual news stories about Iraq and Afghanistan that were posted as new threads. We have a Persian Gulf/Middle East Military News thread. It is for those types of articles and discussions. The two threads were closed. There was (and is) no need for a new thread for every news story like that.

If you have any questions, or if you believe a particular news story absolutely has to have its own thread, ask a Super Moderator BEFORE you do so. In most cases, we will indicate that the story needs to be within the specific thread already established for that discussion.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>> END MODERATOR'S MESSAGE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Thanks.

As always, make sure each member reads, understands, and follows the Forum Rules. The Rules are posted as a "sticky" thread on every forum.

>>>>>>>>>> MODERATOR'S ANNOUNCEMENT <<<<<<<<<<

Many SD members will notice that they have less total posts.

This is my fault.

I was editing an older PLAN Carrier Thread (one where BD Popeye had merged several older threads into one - all of them several years old). While editing and deleting some of my own redundant posts...somehow I deleted the entire thread.

I profusely apologize. I myself lost several hundred posts as a result. We are looking to see if the WebMaster has a backup

Do Not post NSFW photos of partially dressed women. Or women in what could be considered provocative poses. Or photos of dead bodies. This in my opinion is spelled out in the rules.

http://www.sinodefenceforum.com/announcements/uploading-photos-videos-24.html

REMEMBER!!...these simple rules for posting photos and videos;

1) DO NOT post pornographic or nude photos or videos of any sort or links to stated material.
1a) NO BIKINI or SEXUALLY provocative photos/videos are allowed. You may leave a link for bikini photos only.
2) DO NOT Hot link your photos...unless you own the website where you get your photos.
3) Use a photo hosting site to post your photos such as imgur, photobucket or imageshack. There are many, many others.
4) DO NOT post photos/videos of, excessive violence, torture, mutilated or dead bodies.
5) Post captions with your photos so we know what we're viewing. Post general captions for several photos on the same subject.
6) You may post up to 15 pictures in a single post. This includes smiley faces.
ANY MEMBER POSTING ANY PORNOGRAPHY or NUDE MATERIAL WILL BE BANNED INSTANTLY!! Members posting Bikini photos may receive warnings.

When posting photos of women they must be fully clothed. NO bikini photos or bare mid-drift photos. You may post NSFW warning with links to the photos.

I admit that in the past I've been guilty of posting 'bikini' photos. For that I apologize.

To all SD Members from the leadership of the forum during this Holiday and New Year season, 2014:

For all of those celebrating Christmas...a Blessed and Merry Christmas to you all as we remember and celebrate the birth and life of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and His atonement and salvation. May His love, His peace, His atonement, and His redemption fill you each as you seek Him out and take upon yourself His name.

For all others...an equally happy and blessed Hanukkah, Ramadan, or whatever holiday you may have celebrated or may yet celebrate at this time of year. May they bless your life and may love, joy and peace fill your hearts and homes.

And for all...a very Happy New Year and the best of the coming year for you and yours!

I was out the last few days.

My birthday was on Friday and Father's Day was Sunday.

I have five kids and ten grandkids (with number eleven on the way).

My tow sons (ages 30 and 26) kidnapped me Sunday morning. They indicated they wanted to take a ride into the mountains for a couple of hours...just us boys. Then as I was turning the pickup truck back to home, they said, "Dad, we aren't going back!"

I said, boys, wait a minute, we told Mom and the grandkids we were coming back.

They told me everyone was in on it and they had been planning this for months. My wife had packed my bag and it was in the back of the truck unknown to me.

So off we went into Montana for three days of wonderful times together, and a scenic drive that like of which I will never forget. They paid for everything...hotels, food, gas, etc.

I am going to post a separate thread about it in the Member's Club Room.

Anyhow, I am back now and will continue my moderator Duties.

Thanks for understanding!

We have organized SD to account for almost any eventuality:

We are noticing more and more single pictures being posted wthout articles or any comments (meaning relavent comments regarding the equipment) in the various threads we have for various types of equipment.

This is clogging up those threads with pure pictures.

Do not get us wrong, we like good pictures, but we have a plce for pictures alone.

News, articles, pictures with comments ,or articles with pics go:

To the Respective Equipment Page on SD in the various forums.

Photos alone, videos alone go:

To the Respective Military Picture Thread for the respective service.

We have separate picture threads in the Military Picture forum for:

PLAN
PLAAF
PLA

PLEASE, post individual or groups of pictures with no comments to those threads.

Pictures alone, in any case are not meant for the breaking news threads in any of the forums, unless there is a breaking news article to go along with it.

I am going to start deleting individual pictures that are posted in the wrong thread without an associated article or relevant comments in the various equipment and breaking news threads starting Monday, August 3rd, 2015.
