Very interesting article on China stockpiling grains etc., and why. I think China is well aware that it needs plenty of stockpiles of food, fuel and other commodities before launching any Taiwan operation. Hopefully this thread can be used for similar articles going forward.

I don't have the link but I remember some time ago that China was planning to expand its mineral reserves

The fact that agriculture and military used to be on the same channel just tells how important agriculture is.
That, or it's possible that the PLA used to get the short end of stick in terms of budget and weren't producing much programs. Not saying it's actually true, but it's also a possibility.

More bull. Before Nancy Pelosi went to Taiwan, the US accused China of hoarding food while the world starved because what was happening in Ukraine. They're stockpiling food because China is planning for an imminent invasion? There was no talk about an imminent invasion then? China was just being selfish while the world starved. It's spin like how the EU is the biggest customer Russian energy to this day and yet they charge China is funding Putin's War in Ukraine by buying Russian oil. They also said China was going to invade Taiwan when the US was preoccupied with Iraq and Afghanistan. So were they stockpiling food then? Is twenty years considered an imminent invasion. Food does rot. How about they're stockpiling food because the West openly admits that they want to cancel China just for being competition which would also include preventing China from getting food and then they can spin how those deaths from starvation is Beijing's fault for not surrendering.

Can't win can we Chinese?-in the past "starving Chinese children" now China is a food hoarder-all Chinese know that famine will always follow war and chaos and disease as well-one generation away really -I also prepare well before hand with rice, salt, oils, beans, flour can/ meats etc.Like China I BOUGHT these with my own money while these western losers spend their money on drugs/alcohol-when the SHTF they can starve and go to the nearest variety store where their "friendly"indian shop keeper can sell them AA batteries for 20 dollars each and 50 $ for a package of hotdogsImperfect as the Chinese gov't is all people recognize that food security ,building of damms for freshwater security etc is the right course to take NOT building a marble boat in Beijing water park-late Qing

Asians save money and I've heard people in the US say if Asians in the US are able to save money because the average American can't, it's because they're making too much money. Asians don't spend money on partying with friends or on women or drinking yet because they do it's all right but if Asians don't spend money on those things, and can save, there's something wrong with that. Christians tell their own they're the ones feeding China through their charity and the Chinese show no gratitude for it. That's so they get people to hate on China. Now they can say China is hoarding the food they gave and not giving it to countries starving.

I also(many others as well) cook as well-a hobby and skill I've learned as a student and it is a great way to relax when I get homw from work/school-turn shower/cleanup and turn on TV and cook dinner and have lunch as well for next day.Earn more then them??-in the old days definitely NO-now maybe with education and skills of the 2nd generation and later but savings and intelligent frugality(not cheapness)is still a good personal/family trait.I also hunt and fish so I am basically akin to a survivalist/prepper but with NO craziness.

I wonder if the younger generation consider saving money to be important, I mean those who are now in their twenties. From my observation seems to me many of them have been mentally colonised by the "debt is good, party while you can, you only live once" western religion.

Living paycheck to paycheck is very stressful-no wonder they have to dope themselves up with alcohol or drugs-me? I like a good night's sleep and substantial savings in bank.
