BEIJING (Reuters) – An explosion at an Internet cafe in southwest China killed six people and injured 37 others, state news agency Xinhua said Sunday.

The explosion occurred late Saturday in Kaili city in Guizhou province, Xinhua said, citing local police.
I can only think of two things that would cause an explosion that powerful, a gas leak or terrorist attack. Kaili is a small town of 50,000 in southeastern China where the weather is mild so would an internet cafe have a gas line for heating?

Gas isn't just for heating, but cooking/preparing food too.

Yes, that's true. Apparently the blast was caused by volatile chemicals stored at the cafe. What were they storing and how could they mix so fast as to cause that explosion? Did a chunk of raw potassium fall into some water? I hope we all remember our high school demonstration videos of what ensues.

A human rights group says industrial chemicals stored in the cafe caused the blast. The fax from the Hong Kong-based Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy cites a police source for that information.

It's China... these things unfortunately aren't very surprising. Perhaps the internet cafe's owner wanted to make some quick bucks storing those chemicals.
