So dose China need it?

The US used a missle on a F-15 to distroy an old spy satellite and lasers to damage them and Russia has used nuclear weapons.

Dose China need this even if it cost billions and puts peacful space at risk.

What about the ABM system, does China need that. Will it make a nuclear ams space race?

send in your ideas.

I understand u being anxious on the threat to the peaceful use of space.
However space has been miliatrised for a while. the importance of satelites to modern militaries cannot be underestmiated.

If china has or planning to have non nuclear weapons to attack satelites it important for their defence of their nation or useful for lauching a attack. destroyng or jamming satelites would probaby the primary objective in any confrontation.

the link just further highlights the limitation of US intelligence apart from data collection from satelites or other survelance technology which they excell.

This is a useful article on the use of satelite weapons writtened in late 1980s.

Absolutely China needs it as well as other countries. There is a trend that aircraft carriers will fade gradually from now on and they would be replaced by missiles. It is resonable for us to imagine that nations will fight each other in the outer space and continental missiles will be suppose to act as the most common weapon. As we known, the continental missiles are led by satellites. If satellites are destroyed, long distant missles will become blind and miss the target.

If PRC intends to contend against the USA,they indeed need ASAT and other space weapons to destroy more than 200 American satellites. However, Beijing considers that China is reluctant to be involved in any war and economic development comes first for them.
