You have 1 big carrier, it can only be at one place at a time. If it ever goes into maintenance then you have nothing. If you have 2 smaller carriers they can be at different areas, and you can rotate them on duty.

If there is no such thing as a carrier that is too big why isn't the US building 250000 ton carriers and sticking to ~100000 tons with Ford-class


That's surprising, I didn't know that.

US lacks infrastructure to build something bigger, drydock, and also ports and wharfs to put these ships in. There is a reason why the biggest commercial ships are not used with US routes.

I doubt it will have marine diesel engines. It would make more sense to have multiple turbines and feed those into the electric system for storage. It may have multiple sized turbines. But it is not impossible. The QE-class has 2x turbines and 4x diesel engines.

Too much remains hidden. Only the gearbox. Or at least it also looks like a gearbox to me.

Arrangement can also apply to CODLAG. So now the plot thickens.

Combined electric/turbine or diesel used on submarine hunters, that needs to be silent.

The advantage is the direct connection bypassing the gearbox between the shaft and the motor.

Why the talk about gas turbine? Did I miss something? I find no mentioning of it in Chinese forums such as cjdby.

There is a google earth pro update for the shipyard.

Possible to measure the length of the ship. All pieces together gives 290-300 m , beam 40 m ish .

Interesting is the lack of additional elements about the ship.

It is 40 m wide, so I expected same 20/40 m wide elements laying around, but nothing.
