while this image is blurry and not much can be seen, it's not 100% useless. One can still tell there was another ledge module installed on the port side. That, when taken into the context of other ledge modules added, gives one a sense of just how new modules are being added. Which also may somewhat indicate of overall speed of construction of the vessel.

We all wish we'd get 0.5 m resolution satellite imagery, but that's quite expensive, and those happen rarely. I wouldn't be surprised if we stopped getting images from airliners overflying the yard as well. So these low res blurry images may be the best thing we have on a weekly basis, before some once in a quarter high res image appears.

What are all these Gov - MIC funded think-tanks doing?

I thought they would jump at any moment to highlight China's carrier program progress.
Come on, they should be buying HD satellite imagery every week...

I'd think even for those think tanks - splurging money on satellite imagery is not in the budget. A high res (sub 1 m) image that's bought as a custom task, meaning you get the image that's maybe a day old - goes over $900. I've seen some price quotes going over $2000 for such image sets. Problem is always that the imagery companies selll only big swaths of land photographed. For the carrier you maybe need 1 sq km, but you may order only 100 sq km or more.

Even if you go down the archived imagery route, there are usually limits that it can't be newer than 90 days or so. And it still costs $300 or so.

I can promise, they have such images and I have seen a few of them too ... but they are not for public entertainment and as such are only for internal use or as in case of Jane's always hidden behind the paywall.

I wouldn't rule those out as blast deflector locations. Considering that the likely catapult length is going to be similar to US cat lengths, despite the ship being shorter, the deflectors might indeed be roughly near that location on the longitudinal axis. Perpendicular axis is harder to ascertain as we don't know the deck layout but assuming there'll be less deck overhang on the 003 than there is with Nimitz class, those locations might work for the perpendicular axis as well. One can see the two boxes are slightly closer to the right side of the hull than they are to the left side. Just as one would expect for the deflectors, as the left side needs extra space for having enough clearance for the waist cat.

If these are indeed deflectors, then this might be first indication that the layout will be 2 cats on the bow and one cat on the waist. I seriously doubt there'd be room for 2 waist cats, though, given the smaller size compared to Nimitz. But you never know.
