IMO, the two white blocks at the front of the rest of the blocks, are superstructure modules. Whose superstructure? The LNG carrier being built next to the carrier. The boxes are left in a way that the cranes can lift and place them in that ship.

Before the LNG carrier to the right was laid there, that area had been storing superstructure modules for various commercial ships under construction. Now the area is filled up by a ship, the storage area has to move to somewhere convenient. As for the rest of the blocks, they are unpainted and in primer grey. IMO, they are building superstructures in that shed.
Oh I agree re the assembly of modules in the shed and thats a good observation re civilian use based on finish.

You can compare it to the ship on the left which has its superstructure recently installed to the two white colored blocks.

The grey blocks behind the white blocks is a bit more of the unknown. They might go to either the aircraft carrier or the LNG carrier.

To the right you see the tops of the LNG carrier's tank. The double tank hull is forward and appears partially covered.

If the LNG carrier is the same class or is an Arc7 ship, this ship when finished is about 300 meters long, so its almost as long as the carrier.

Despite every rumor up to now suggesting that it's conventional? And despite that the island mockup has a smokestack?

Sorry but I'm not buying it and I don't think anyone should, until we see the island and then we'll know for sure.

Sorry but I'm not buying it and I don't think anyone should, until we see the island and then we'll know for sure.

Even if there are smokestacks, it could still be a combined steam and nuclear propulsion like the Kirov class.

No I don't think so. Both are Ford, the lower image is 90° rotated counter clockwise. Just look at the house to the top left at the 1st image and then the same house on the left etc. everything is just rotated.

Regardless, what you posted in your tweet should hopefully clear up confusion about the hole between the last section (with regards to claims of this being a construction bridge).

That is not shielding, that is the containment.

Its job is to prevent the escape of radioactive materials from the reactor/primer loop/heat exchangers, it is a thin metal structure, most likely welded and shaped in situ around the equipment.

I do not understand why people here think you need very massive material shielding for a reactor. We routinely lift freshly irradiated, screaming hot fuel (yes, you can see the glow) to only 8 feet below water surface for inspection (you don't receive any dose form that, 3-4 ft of water should be sufficient). WATER is the best shielding medium!!! You need some permanent shielding in case water leaks out. See schematic below.

Hmm, I don't know either. Why didn't the designers of NS Savannah consider the possibility of AShMs hitting their ship and sinking all their cargo? Big oversight IMO. And no CIWS either? Just a terrible design all-round.
