Not to be picky, but are the lengh correct?
The USS Kitty Hawk had an offical lengh of 225,8 meters, the QE is 280 meters.
Boats have two length measurements, LWL Length at Water Line and LOA Length Over All

The numbers displayed in the comparison are LOA

The Kitty has a LWL of 225.8m and a LOA of 319m.

Most boats have overhangs at the bow and stern so LOA is usually the larger of the two measurements

An overhang at the front and back of a total of 93 meters? Incredible. Check your numbers.

Could it be that the "225.8" are frames? Then it would be 226 * 4 feet and correspond to 275 meters. In the US Navy, the frames are each 4 feet apart.

Apologies I just grabbed a previous comments claim in listed length for Kitty Hawk

My intention was to point at the graphic was using LOA where others were quoting LWL figures however I didn't actually check the figure I grabbed from someone else's post

Wikipedia kitty hawk class

  • 1,069 ft (326 m) overall
  • 990 ft (300 m) waterline

Just looked, I have drawings of the decks of CV 60 Saratoga: 247.5 frames on the waterline, which corresponds to 301.75 meters. And CV 60 was certainly not longer than CV 63.

Comments:

1. The picture was made by other person, I just reposted it here. But I didn't find the info of the creater on the pic. Since it is a military porn forum here, for any photos, please take this for granted that if I didn't say "I took this photo by myself", it's a repost of materials by someone else from somewhere else. ;)

2. I think this picture may give us an intuitive comparison from the same altitude, but the number of lengths and widths may be incorrect, because the angle of the satellites' cameras, the rendering algorithms of the images may also interfere the pixel level measurements and introduce some errors.
