Has this been shared before? It's from a research paper on a strategic hypersonic vehicle design. Two course+speed projections are presented. The first one has a flight time of 3423 seconds, covering a distance of 18343 km. The second has a duration of 1500 seconds and a distance of 7606 km.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. So Mod feel free to move it to any other thread.

What Chinese and Russian hypersonic weapons will be up against in the future :

Pentagon solicits proposals for new hypersonic advanced warning system

The US Department of Defense (DoD) is soliciting industry proposals for the development and fielding of a new network of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, designed specifically to detect, track, and provide advanced warning against hypersonic weapons launched against US armed forces or allied targets.

The US needs to boost confidence after cancelling their advanced missile interceptor program and Japan just announced they're cancelling theirs. Basically it cost too much for what they hope realistically it can accomplish. It will take 8 interceptors to have a 40% chance to knock down an incoming warhead. How many missiles will they need to get it up there to 90%? If they can't get it to feasibly to work for just ICBMs, it's not going to be easier for hypersonic targets. And this announcement is most likely a result of China's recent announcement.

Pardon the ignorance, can’t read Chinese. What does LM stands for, thanks.
I believe LM stands for Lockheed Martin, and this video is just reporting the US's first hypersonic missile test that is conducted by the US Army and Navy.

Unfortunately a B2 (or B52 for that matter) carrying a HGV from Guam is not something China can guard against atm. It's even harder to guard against than Tomahawk carrying Ohio's. There is this urgent impetus to bring out a long range (intercontinental) stealthy bomber capable of delivering retaliatory strikes at the appropriate level otherwise American bombers will be able to cause havoc in China with impunity.

I think the world is quickly shifting from peace guarded by MAD toward marginal warfare where your response to someone kicking you in the nuts can't be to murder their family.
