NORAD Head says PLA Aircrafts could start operating near U.S. ADIZ this Year

Not sure If he meant Bombers or a Carrier near CONUS (Is that even possible for Shandong/Liaoning ? )

My guess would be more joint exercises with the Russians, near Alaska, like the one last year. That would be in line with several previous exercises near Japan and so forth, just farther north.

The PLAN is largely concerned with operations within the 1IC and 2IC, so having CSGs sailing anywhere past 2IC seems rather unfeasible (at least for time being).

However, having SSBNs loitering in the CentPac and EastPac on a regular basis is certainly prudent for China's underwater-based nuclear deterrence against the US. Plus, there are signs pointing at China developing next-gen SSBNs that are capable of operating and launching SLBMs beneath the Arctic ice caps, so there's that.

For the PLAAF: Until H-20s are inducted into active service, the PLAAF will have to rely on H-6Ns that can refuel mid-air over the Russian Far East or the Sea of Okhotsk in order to reach patrol zones near Alaska.
