A very rare sight. J-16's wingtip pylons are occupied (by PL-10).

PL-10 is 3m long... the size of fighter aircraft is always baffling.

The 7th at Rugao to my eyes.

I think when he said it's a rare sight because only three brigades operating J-16s have been deployed to the frontlines for combat purposes and rarely been reported without any censorship.

On the other hand, when J-16s were on combat patrol duties, they always have PL-10s on the wingtips.

This one was from August 2022, we all know what happened.

J-16 from the 98th, deployed to Kuqa airport in June 2021 during a rapid deployment exercise.

Sometimes I see it
Interesting sight ... for the first time a PLAAF J-16 was seen together with a RuAF Tu-95MS from yesterday's "long-distance joint flight" of Russian Tu-95MS and PLAAF H-6KG bombers, which were accompanied by two J-16s.

Looks like 61389 (or 61388) from the 7th Air Brigade at Jiaxing AB (?)

These pics could be from exercises in August but I don't see them posted.

From the back seat of the J-16.

PL-10 on wingtip, PL-15 inside.

Russian R-27 missile, so this one may be from SU-27, or early J-11?

Do we have a photo of gray dome J-11B carrying PL-15? If I recall correctly we’ve seen PL-15 on legacy J-11B before but not yet on the upgraded ones.

Wow  ... what a birthday present!

Wendell Minnick is undoubtedly a more than proven specialist in "China and Taiwan military and intelligence issues" and his blog is well known to all those who know the scene:

Therefore I was all the more happy about his offer to review my current book and I was all the more excited about what he would say about it ... obviously he seems to like it. ;)

Definitely looks like something I would buy. Is it up to date? Or have any major developments occurred since you published it?

EDIT: Oh wow, published this December. Nevermind then! Purchasing it right now :)
