China Flanker Thread III (land based, exclude J-15)

While discussing constructively on Chinese Flankers, I hope people here would avoid the negative controvecy of SAC and CAC tribalism fiercely fought in domestic forums in China.

We have to understand that the manufacturers normally make changes on their existing aircraft to the specific demands from PLAAF and/or PLANAF. They do not make significant changes like modificatiion on aircraft structure, to attract more customers orders, especially for the Chinese Flankers there are only 2 end users since export is not permitted.

Thus it is basically PLAAF/PLANAF (the end users) rather than SAC (the seller) that decides what to change, and demanded on when the finished product should come out.

And also, why spend more money and time to significantly modify a Flankers when more resources should go to 5th and development of 6th gen aircraft?

The same reason why USA produces F-15EX. Each of them have their roles to fill.

Does anyone know more about this image?

Are these really recent images since one of the J-11BS shows still carries the serial number 41286 (?) that corresponds to the long abolished former 37th Air Division's 111th Air Regiment.

Really? I thought, the 7th AB was relocated from Wuhu to Jiaxing AB?!

I think you are right about Jiaxing being another home base of the 7th, it also explains why only six HASs were built at Rugao.

This set of pics published by ETC last month showing J-16s at both Jiaxing and Rugao AB
