It seems there were a sound of boom heared over Chengdu a few hours ago (about 11:00 Beijing time), cause is unclear. However, there was a text message sent to phones in Chengdu, stating all Chinese citizens have an obligation to keep secrets. Some local news report that the emergency management agency of Chengdu responded and confirmed that the boom is "related to aircraft test flights".
Supersonic test?

Across all social media platforms, there are many posts with #成都巨响# (Chengdu big boom), some also mention there were actually two booms, another one was at about 2 pm Beijing time.

Chengdu is rainy today so it might also be just a false alarm, could be just a lightning.
Heard an loud bang in a sunny day somewhere in Shaanxi 100km away from Yanliang. People seemed not bothered. I guess people there were well used to it. We realized that one piece of our window glasses was cracked some days later. Sonic boom sounds just like a bomb goes off unlike most thunders that last longer for seconds.
> 郫都区

Very suspicious indeed.

(For context, that's right next to CAC)

It seems like the rain is not heavy. Would a cloudy day be preferred for a supersonic test?
No, no reason for that.

CAC made an official announcement that it is fighter aircraft test flight. Whether it is J-36 or J-20, who knows…

Checking the news reports in the past, I found there were similar reports in March 2024, September 2022 and more significantly, in November 2015. We know the 2011 prototype flew in March 2014, and the LRIP flew in December 2015. Combining with the 36011 hull no, I'm now more inclined to the idea that this airframe is significantly more mature than a prototype, though suggesting we will see LRIP this year or next year still feels bold for me.

"What kind of maneuver is this? Honestly, I've never seen planes maneuver like that—could it be a filming artifact? It looks like the camera operator is simply following the plane flying straight, and at a certain point it seems to literally turn rather than bank, like a car would."

It’s no maneuver… It’s an optical Illusion die to the movement of the camera
