he asked for chinese war movies.

RavenWing278, there're very little modern chinese war movies, most of them were created in the 50's or 60's i think, for propaganda purposes.

it is a chinese movie. that's just the english name of it.

I think his point is that when he asked for war movies, he meant movies depicting wars, not movies depicting soldiers in training.

it's not just training. china haven't fought any wars recently. so unless it's about ww2 or something, it's going to be about small skirmishes and stuff that's in this movie. if you never seen the movie then don't comment about it, since you don't know anything about it.

chinese don't make war movies. the newest war movie is called "on the mountain of Tai Hang". it's about 18th army fighting on the mountain of Tai Hang in 37, 8. there are no wars, so they don't make modern war movies. the newest "modern" war movies were made in 80s about operations with viet nam. those made after early 80s are very good. i know emule download

one is called "Operation Flash", about a group of soldiers going behind the enemy line to search and destroy a viet nam artillery position by directing self arti.
another oneis called "rangers of the snake valley" it's actually fast troops, but i think translating to rangers is better. it's about a mech brigade going behind the enemy line to destroy the elite enemy anti tank troop.
there are also tv series "vitory at the mid night" about a brigade commander lead his soldiers occupied a hill on the board and dying to defend it. with so few to come back.

there are also, "heavy armoured 008", "Ma Qiang the new recruit", and so a couple.

just thought of a new military movie "the Gun man". a story of an armed police sharp shooter.

There are many Chinese war movies, however, most of them are not available in English. So if you don't speak Chinese, it would be difficult to understand it. Also most of these movies are not available in the market of Western countries.

In fact, the People's Liberation Army has a dedicated film-making orgnaisation known as "August 1st Film-Making Factory". it is responsible for making all the documentry films for the PLA for education purposes. Most these are only shown internally. It also makes lots of war movies about historical wars for public viewing.

Most of Chinese war movies made before 1980s were highly political, praising the CCP with KMT always being the bad guys, but this was somehow changed since then. In some movies about the Sino-Japanese war, the portrait of the KMT became much more positive.

China never made any movies about fictional war as this is regarded as politically sensitive.

Personally I highly recommand the 'three great campaigns' series about the 1940s Chinese civil war made by "August 1st". They are relatively accurate compared to the real history and have some very realistic battle scenes.

There are lots of movies about the 1979/1980s Sino-Vietname war too.

the movie battle of ti- er-goun ( bad spelling)

actualy praised the kmt for the scarfice of its soliders duing the sino-jaoanese war and it was made in the early 80s

its also very accurate in depicting the weapons used( hard for a chinese movie)
