Seems thre's no active one so let me begin one with my own problem:

I'm using a Nikon D7100 and have been slowing saving up money for a full-frame camera, most likely stay in Nikon camp because of the substential investment up to this time:

Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM
Sigma APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor ED 70-300mm F4.5-5.6G(IF)

As you can see, only the first one that's not compatible with FX cameras, the one which the focal range most commonly used, the range below 70mm.

Now, photography isn't exactly a serious hobby for me and mostly used while on trips or taking pictures of weapons on display and stuff, thus logic should lean towards something allows me to carry just one lens to do everything, right? However because my intention to upgrade to FX in near future, my choice would limit me to stuff on 28-300mm range, but at that price range and a bit up there's 24-70mm, of better performance, or 24-120mm if I push the boat out.

Since lenses last longer than camera in general sense, investment on better lens should go for a long way...so in short I kinda torn here - go for one-lens-fits-all (28-300mm) or 2 lenses combo (24-70 / 24-120mm + existing 70-300mm) for quality?

Also, what brand and model to choose? In theory should stick with Nikkor but they're most expensive; should I stick with Sigma or try out the Tamron? I know they're cheaper than Sigma but I heard Tamron works better with Canon...

And I'm not exactly in a hurry either, I'm going to Kyoto in October and since lens sells cheaper than in HK, I planned to get mine when I reached there.

Any suggestion?
