This is super plus spicy. However I will just quote one thing that stood out to me

Either this is satire or they were maybe planning of doing a fake attack and fake counterattack (like Iran's counterstrike at an empty field lol)

However I doubt the CMC would tolerate any kind of attack so most probably "General Li" didnt believe him at all.
Strange story with probably some disinfo. The most important is this : Milley call Li because he has seen intel that CHina expected / preparing for a U.S. attack. If true, what it say about US intel capability to know what is happening inside CN/PLA? PRC was watching the US with concern over the last year but that they really thought US was preparing to strike? Strike what? If they were falsely convinced US were a trigger pull away from starting a war, what it say about PRC ability to rightly judge US actions or PLA intel apparatus capability? Wars can start from miscalculations. Or Maybe the two generals were probably talking about deconflicting here because they were just skeptical to the degree they/their intel were worried about a possible military action.
We will never know what really happen or even if something serious really happen

Interests are eternal, bypassing the useless 4yr elections.

For example, would industrialists not lobby for cheap energy imports, cheap raw materials, open foreign markets etc?

Wouldn't Internet tech companies not lobby for a unified world standard for Internet with minimal state intervention.?

And a last one, wouldnt China want to have land access to its energy and other essential imports?

Even if 1000 years passed,these interests would still remain. Financial, security, develipment, diplomatic interests are eternal

You forget the power of propaganda to get people to act contrary to their own best interests.

How many times have we seen comedians do bits where they ask passionately animated protestors/supporters basic questions about the issue they are so passionate protesting about, only to get blank stares and painful silence back?

That has always been a fundamental weakness of democracy, that is why when democracy was first practiced by the ancient Greeks, only (educated) land owners could vote. As democracy was expanded to become universal suffrage, the problem was exacerbated since anyone with a pulse can vote. In any society, you are going to have exponential more idiots than smart people. So it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if you can corner the brainless idiot segment, you basically win democracy.

A free media is supposed to help safeguard against demagogues and such manipulation, but that in turn has been perverted and made into a tool of manipulation itself. A free media is meant to be a media free of political interference and undue bias. But that has been instead perverted to mean free for the rich to buy up and make into their own personal lobbying service.

It’s no accident that the west is currently experiencing the weird anti-education, anti-science regressive trends that we are seeing, because the less well educated the population, the easier it is to manipulate them into doing stupid things that benefit the elite even as they obliterate their own interests and welfare.

Brexit, the rise of Trump and vaccine hesitancy are just the most obvious headline grabbing recent examples. There are plenty more the deeper you look.

So, to sum up, interests are no longer eternal when the west is concerned because powerful vested interests can now fairly reliably manipulate western electorates to vote against their best interests.

sorry for all the posts today…

This might not be pointless...

The UK (and EU) were shocked by the strength of Chinas response to their sanctions, they think it’s not fair. So, adding this minor sanction could be a way of “levelling up” in the eyes of the west, but not a big enough step for China to respond too, this could be a good state to de-escalate all the sanctions from this year? If it makes progress, the EU could do the same.

Remember, I believe the UK wants to have a positive relationship with China.

It is a matter of necessity post Brexit.

A、这个答案肯定是“yes”;不仅仅是美国整个西方社会都认为中国的相对贫困是西方架构安全的条件;
因为中国相对贫困,他们就可以说看吧,这都是因为你们体制不行,应该学习我们体制,一旦中国也学习了西方的体制,全世界都就变成了资本家的天堂,没有人可以在威胁他们的地位,他们通过形成秘密组织社团,垄断媒体和教育把阶级固化,普罗大众永远是普罗大众,没有天灾人祸的时候看不出来大的区别,一旦拥有,你们就是生与死的区别;

B、如果中国发展起来了,中国人均和他们差不多,而且实现共同富裕没有什么太大的贫富差距,中国的社会矛盾会少很多很多,整体十分和谐,加上比较好的生活环境和基础设施,西方人民肯定会喜欢中国充满人情味的社会;
到那个时候他们肯定会反思体制问题,因为他们当时就被灌输是一切都是体制;那个时候西方的安全架构资本主义真正的俄危险就来了,不是来自中国的颜色革命而是来自他们人民的觉醒;

面对中俄,俄罗斯其国内只有几家不错的反病毒公司,没有大型科技生态系统,也没有人试图改变互联网流量标准。但是中国不一样,中国试图改变一切的运作方式,寻求重写互联网规则,从而建立起自己的技术生态系统,与西方民主制度直接竞争。所以必须阻止中国在技术上占据主导地位,所以华为必须被打压,中国的很多好的大学必须被制裁;

A、中国国内有些人认为美国希望中国崛起就是因为我们现在太强硬人家才打压我们的,就是因为外交部赵立坚人家才打压我们的,这些人就是软骨头,你把岳飞害死就能组织人家欺负你了;

“China will always be relatively poor in order to ensure the security of the western architecture…” (15 SEP 2021)

1. Deutsche Welle (DW) tweeted and reprinted an article: see picture

*Is China's relative poverty really a prerequisite for the Western security architecture in the 21st century?*

*That's what the White House thinks.*

If the answer to this question is really 'yes', then the next question is: can the West and can it permanently deny ordinary Chinese people the living standards that western people should enjoy?

At the beginning, the article quoted the recent statement of the *former Australian Prime Minister, Paul Keating: “The problem with China is that this huge country has the potential to surpass the United States economically. In the eyes of American triumphant theorists, this alone is an unforgivable crime.”*

The author believes that only when the per capita level of China's economy also catches up with the United States will it mean the official beginning of the new world; “This will mean the end of American hegemony and the beginning of the Chinese century.”

A. The answer must be “yes”; not only the United States, but also the whole western society believes that China's RELATIVE POVERTY IS A CONDITION for the security of the western architecture;

Because China is relatively poor, *they can say, look, it's all because your system is not good*. The Chinese should learn from our system. Once China also learns from the western system, the world will become a paradise for [liberal] capitalists. No one can threaten their status. *They solidify the class by forming secret organizations and societies, monopolizing the media and education*, and the general public will always be the general public (“Luo Dazhong”). When there are no natural and man-made disasters, you can not see a big difference [between the systems]. However, once you have such great scale disaster, you have the difference between life and death;

B. If China develops, its per capita is about the same as theirs, and there is no big gap between the rich and the poor to achieve the Common Prosperity, China's social contradictions will be much less, and the whole society or nation will be very harmonious. Coupled with a better living environment and infrastructure, the western people will certainly like China's humane society;

At that time, they will certainly reflect on the system, because they were taught that everything is a system; At that time, the REAL DANGER for the Western security structure capitalism came, not from any Color Revolution instigated by China or outsiders, but from the awakening of the western own people;

C. Therefore, China's ORIGINAL SIN in western society is not the one party dictatorship of the Communist Party, the cotton in Xinjiang [alias the “Uyghur genocide”], or the election in Hong Kong, *but that China has the potential to surpass the United States, which has threatened their pick-up monopoly foundation*. Therefore, the west MUST SUPPRESS China. All aspects of this suppression focus on confusing China and preventing its scientific and technological progress. The Chinese successes in this sector can maintain relative prosperity to China; so?

2. *Ciaran Martin, former head of the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)*, admitted that the cooperation of the "Five-Eyes Alliance" has nothing to do with the so-called "Chinese cyber attack", but is ACTUALLY to deal with the dominant position of Chinese science and technology.

In the face of China and Russia, there are only a few good anti-virus companies in Russia [such as Kaspersky Labs AV]. There is no large science and technology ecosystem in Russia [if any, limited to military sector but the commercial one is not substantial], and no one is trying to change the Internet traffic standards. However, unlike Russia, China is trying to change all the operation methods and seek to rewrite the Internet rules, so as to establish its own technology ecosystem and compete directly with the western system. Therefore, it must be stopped. China occupies a dominant position in technology, so Huawei must be suppressed, and many good undergraduates in China must be sanctioned;

3. Therefore, the Canadian government urged China Mobile to spin off or completely close its business in Canada within 90 days on the grounds of "national security".

4. Therefore, let China have civil unrest over the issues of Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Taiwan, and joint sanctions against Chinese enterprises and research universities are all signs of preventing China's scientific and technological progress!

5. COMMENTARY

A. Some people in China believe that the United States wants China to rise because we are too tough now, and that the west suppress China because of Zhao Lijian of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). These people are weak bones. If you kill Yue Fei, you can organize others to bully you.

This is the struggle for China's national survival, which is the essence.

B. *But China is not afraid of anything at all. Strategically, you have lost that opportunity; it's too late.*

On 13 September 2021, Chinese ambassador to the United States Qin Gang was invited to attend the online welcome activity held by the board of directors of the USA—China Trade Commission for his new appointment. At the event, he said that recently, there were media reports that the United States was considering launching a Section-301 Investigation on China's subsidies. However, facts have proved that it is useless to conduct a Section-301 investigation or a tariff war against China.

*This is a naked mockery of you; you have no chance but to cooperate. If you do not cooperate, you will decline faster.*

It seems that every couple of months we have news about how a new global program to compete against BRI is created

The EU plans to step up its challenge to China through international spending on infrastructure and other projects as it seeks to rival the economic and political influence that Beijing has won through its Belt and Road Initiative. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen put forward the measure, dubbed “Global Gateway”, in her annual State of the Union speech on Tuesday. In an era of global “hyper-competitiveness” the EU needed to become a “more active global player”, she said.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out or deduce something that perhaps the U.S. military was up to something and maybe inclined to take some type of action in and around South China Sea that could have been interpreted as a harbinger for an attack against the PLA. Considering the chaotic scene that was unfolding at the Capitol Hill for all the world to see; the deranged pronouncements of Pres.Trump declaring that the election was stolen from him calling governors and state election officials in Georgia to flip the state for him. The chaos that was unfolding had left some type of vacuum in the foreign policy at that time where Fat Pompeo was able to insert some provocative policies like this: "Over the weekend, Pompeo also announced that the United States would be rolling back a decades-old policy of “self-imposed” restrictions between American and Taiwanese officials that takes aim at a central tenet of the so-called “One China” policy status quo. The United States maintains close ties to Taiwan, but China considers the island part of its territory. The move drew swift condemnation from officials in Beijing."

And by making this absurd and somewhat alarming pronouncements that flies in the face of the election results

Gen.Mark Milley may have been convinced that his country was not going to become a banana republic due to the erratic and chaotic management and leadership by the petulant man child and his attempt to preemptively call his Chinese military counterpart can be interpreted as a form of assurances that no military attack will commence so long as he's the Chairman of the JCS and in the event he's replaced he would have mutinied and countermanded whatever order he deemed as illegal and a war with China is that order.
  • Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, began informally strategizing about how to guard against such a move by Trump or those around him, the book says.

If any lay person witnessing all these crazy shit happening in the U.S. wouldn't we assume that the Chinese personnel in their embassy in the U.S. wouldn't be probing the possibility that Pres.Trump may even contemplate to consider the unthinkable - attack China to maintain his grip on power. After all, Trump was a mercurial person; a person that was hard to read and impulsive which means his decision making ability can be erratic depending on his moods. And since he was desperate enough to stay in power such drastic possibility shouldn't be discounted. It's better for the Chinese to hope for the best and expect the worst than to simply assume that Trump was just acting and laughing the deranged President's actions as Trump simply being Trump because that assumption would lead to defeat.

The US delusions are interesting to witness.

The CMC totally believed the US general that it wouldn't attack China, yeah sure..

The moment General Li, put down the phone, he probably ordered the nuclear weapons, and balistic missiles to get ready lol

Only idiots would believe the US. China merely gave it lip-service and continued its war preparations

General Li took him at his word because all the other sources probably already told him the same thing days ago.
Woodward says in his book that China believed war was imminent.

It also said US intelligence detected signs that China believed it was about to be attacked. And that promoted JCS chairman to call his Chinese counterpart.

Yea this is Woodward exaggerating events and trying to sell his book.
