I have sent people links to this forum, eg in the UK Defense Journal, telling them to come here and learn something, but the first thing they see is the Breaking News forum, them they open it and it’s full of hate, they leave and then report that the forum is a hateful one and to avoid it.
A sensible reaction from you then. I would also be embarrassed in such a situation.

You should properly warn the good people in the UK Defence Journal, that only the military section is strictly moderated while the political section is mostly more lightly moderated (not free for all though, you can still get banned). Properly inform them that the political section is Sino-centric and thus easily gets heated in important developments, so that they will know what they get before jumping in

I personally disagree that the convo here contains hate but whatever. Thats your personal opinion so I respect that

I know what the western media is doing, I am not completely brain washed, I get my news from a variety of sources which I have even mentioned on this forum before in order to have a balanced view.

I hate that the media is brainwashing everyone in the west and especially where I live

I'm glad to hear it. But I would say you're the exception rather than the norm. I'm experience in the U.K. people just couldn't bothered to read past the headlines let along seek other news source to get a balanced view.

And as such, they are, as you say, brainwashing their populace. The very thing they accused China and other authitarian states of doing.

I used to be so proud of the BBC, I used to think it was the best thing the UK ever did, a way to get the news free from the bias of advertisers, with a mission to inform, educate and entertain.

I only realized it’s not true when I saw the crap they write about China despite all the evidence otherwise, or the things they never report like the breakthroughs or poverty relief, cause I know what’s going on more than most, I read this forum for example.

BBC. Where do I begin. You're lucky you dont live in the U.K. whereas i have been living in the U.K. far longer than you. It is safe to say from my experience, most of the U.K. populace still firmly believed the BBC is tge biggest impartial news outlet in the WORLD. (Hardly surprising when the BBC keeps telling their viewers this every chance they get.)

The biggest confirmation of their bias BS for me, comes from the reporting of the Hong Kong situation and Xinjing. And the subsequent treatments of all expats living in China but reporting China through whatever means to show a different side. And get called paid China agents.

And I directed my anger at siegecrossbow harshly because of a comment he made, I’m sorry for that over reaction.

Good for you. And it's good to admit. But don't you think you owe me an apologies for your attack on me?

For example, Lithuania’s actions have influenced the US to possibly rename the Taipei office to Taiwan, whether it’s all coordinated in advance doesn’t matter.

Well, if you believe it is not coordinated, then I've got a London bridge to sell you.

One day they talk about cooperation, the next they want to change Taiwan's name. Why should Xi even meet Biden when the US is acting like that? And lets also not forget the Covid situation

The US president proposed to Xi that the leaders hold the summit in an effort to break an impasse in US-China relations, but multiple people briefed on the call said the Chinese leader did not take him up on the offer and instead insisted Washington adopt a less strident tone towards Beijing
A different person said it was possible that the two sides could agree to a video call — a step up from a phone call — around the time of the G20. But three people said the US was disappointed with Xi’s apparent lack of interest in a summit.

Lithuania is definately a pawn used to "test" the water. If anyone thinks this is open to a flood gate of other countries to follow is delusional at best. The reasons Lithuania is choose is because they gave very little to loose by breaking off relationship with China.

Now, try that trick with Germany and see if they are willing to sacrifice their profitable relationship with China?

The Hyprocracy of the western MSM always harp on about how China is using cheque book to prise countries away from Taiwan. But when Taiwan does it, it does it because of genuine concern to help develop and improve the poor of the said county. See the difference?
I do, of course. (and I meant to include your name in the overreaction apology above).

Let’s suppose someone did want to try that trick with Germany, there is an election in 2 weeks, could it be influenced? probably not, but I am sure some think otherwise.

Anyway, if Germany does it, or significantly changes their position then China might as well just give up with the EU and focus on rest of the world. They are good at creating markets where they didn’t exist before.

China cares about what Germany thinks and really wants to earn their respect and trust, as equals, it’s a major prize and validation of sorts, and it should naturally happen.

It is such a pointless gesture.

sorry for all the posts today…

This might not be pointless...

The UK (and EU) were shocked by the strength of Chinas response to their sanctions, they think it’s not fair. So, adding this minor sanction could be a way of “levelling up” in the eyes of the west, but not a big enough step for China to respond too, this could be a good state to de-escalate all the sanctions from this year? If it makes progress, the EU could do the same.

Remember, I believe the UK wants to have a positive relationship with China.

Apologies accepted. Thank you. It take a big man to accept his errors. For that, you have gain my respect.

Now with Germany. No of course not. No country would want to loose a relationship with such a giant on the political sphere in the world, let alone EU.

But let's be clear. It is not in the interest of Germany either to loose China in their diplomatic relationship. You mentioned about the possibility of a new party in charge in Germany. Yes this us a risk. But a risk China couldn't control. Beside, IMO, the Greens, no matter their politics, are realist, they would not want to see their profitable ventures in China begin danger of loosing everthing which affects the ecomomic wellbeing of their people, thus their re-election chances. So it is kind of akin to suicides if they decides to cut ties with China for the sake of Taiwan.

And let's not forget history here. China did not have relationship with Germany and all western nations for 30 years. So if needs be, China will take the hit for the sake of our red line. Taiwan .

This is where I get frustrated with western people. They for some reason do not realise how Taiwan is ingrain into every Chinese psychic. I can understand the average Joe don't understand this. But the policy makers in white house does. And this is why they are constantly pushing that button. It is like putting a hot knife on to old wounds. This is where the Chinese need to resolved this once and for all.

The more I read about this, the less my argument makes sense.

Australian naval ship HMAS Diamantina is stuck in Vanuatu and might need to be towed back for repair. The ship was only deployed last month in Vanuatu for so-called for maritime patrol. Another patrol boat donated to Samoa is also stuck.
Looks like the cost of maintaining the South Pacific hegemony will increase.
