Twitter is most likely feeling the pressure from the right. Both Republicans and Democrats were already talking about regulating social media. Having the President of the US banned from Twitter looks bad when they allow adversaries of the US access to Twitter. If they didn't do it, Congress would've used against them when they regulate social media. I wouldn't interpret it as anything else. Twitter is not in China and they pretty much can expect to never be in China. They have nothing to lose in locking out China.

For all the help Canadian give to abduct Meng Wanzhou Canada didn't get enough pfizer vaccine prompting Ontario premier to beg for vaccine. I guess it does not pay to become a poodle.

Just a day before Joe Biden’s inauguration as the next U.S. president, Ontario Premier Doug Ford asked the next American president for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses from the company’s Kalamazoo, Michigan facility

“My American friends, help us out,” Ford said. “Help out your neighbour. You want us all to get along, hunky dory, kumbaya, help us out, I’m asking you for help.” “Give us a million vaccines...get us over the hump.”

The premier said that it is “troubling” and a “massive concern” that Canada will see a reduction in Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses, with next week’s shipment being deferred entirely.
@Hendrik_2000 ,

That's inhumane, treating your friend and ally in such undignified manner. Trump is such a evil person. I hope the other five eyes countries realized that they need to put their own interest first. @horse and other SDF Canadian members stay safe and hope everything is good on your end.

Honestly Chinese government or government backed entities in China shouldn’t use twitter, FB, etc. because it really is hypocritical. They often suck at it too.

Chen weihua is cringe af.

Multinationals and embassies are ok imo.

Let CTGN n stuff regurgitate the state comments.

Even after all this Canada still remains a loyal pet to the USA, so it is clear that there are not enough dead in Canada to warrant growing a brain as to what is more important, the death of love ones of satisfying an unloyal neighbour down south. So if you ask me, there simply isn’t enough dead people dying each day to justify considering accepting help from someone else. So it probably better to let things develop further to see if being a loyal dog to the USA is more important the. Caring about the nation (which I am starting to doubt right now because the leaders in Canada has long given up caring for the common good)

Right on bro but You don't seem to understand the personal hurt it imply, being friend and allies is to TRUST the wisdom of your friend and stick to it. What the US had shown is a betrayal, instead of nobody left behind it had become an America first.

It's only a matter of time before Twitter locks out all Chinese official and media accounts.

I've said this before, the reason Twitter allows Chinese officials to post on its platform is to maintain the semblance of "free speech", and they will only maintain it as long as they believe those Chinese officials do not have any influence.

The fact that they are starting the lock out shows people are starting to listen to the Chinese accounts. There have been a marked change in the replies to those Chinese posts, from overwhelmingly anti-China to 50-50.

Internet segregation is starting to take shape. When so-called "free speech" advocates can no longer control the narrative, they resort to the very censorship they've always denounced.

China needs to start pushing its own platforms to the world. Pre-load HarmonyOS phones with WeChat, and Tiktok. Build an international version of Weibo and push that. Twitter and Facebook are both dinosaurs, and too big to change. They're ripe for some disruption.
100%

What is surprising is that this even surprises anyone at all.. it was bound to happen...

"Free speech" is a tool that pays lip service to US hegemony... when Amerikkka assess the pros of allowing the semblance of free speech is no longer worth the cons, then the BAN hammer drops...

China must long term have its own platform for everything consequential... everything...

America First actually means America Only
It means the vassals have to sacrifice themselves more and more to prop up the US empire
Its a red queens race that eventually will collapse and implode upon itself...
