Perhaps our American Chinese can help me out here. Is this representative of the Chinese in America today? If it is I found it quite astonishing that Chinese Americans could find it in them to support a man, in racist himself, is supported by racist .

When a blind Chinese activist named Chen Guangcheng spoke at the Republican National Convention praising Trump for standing up to the Beijing regime in August, many Democrats called him ungrateful, as the Chinese lawyer and pro-life activist who exposed the evils of the one-child policy implemented in his hometown of Linyi was rescued from China and found refuge in America during the Obama administration.
Rest of the article:
From my experience, there are two reasons why Chinese would vote Trump.
The first is because they are fed up with Democrats ignoring them in favor of other minorities and are voting Republican out of spite.
The second is a byproduct of the first, but more pragmatic. Some parents are upset about how affirmative action harms their children's chances to get into a top college. I personally sympathize with this one, having gone through the college admissions process and seeing Chinese classmates who were more hardworking than I was end up at lower-ranking schools.
Note that this applies only to the older Chinese, the ones who immigrated here. The younger generation, my generation, is a toss-up. The ones immersed in the social media culture swing left. Others lean right, especially the ones from religious families.
