The key point here is, if the D admin wants Huawei die, it should block all supply chain, what let american company doing business with Huawei? Something smells not so right.
Well, Trump is "genius" and we are normal people. We definitely don't know what happened in mind of "genius".

For too long the us has been using asian born scientists to advance its own STEM while causing brain drain in asian countries mainly China
Now let the reverse brain drain begin, lets see how long can us maintain its technological superiority without Chinese born scientist
I personally know one very talented semiconductor engineer who accepted senior position in Suzhou double the salary he usually received in the west

I don't have an issue with this. I agree with you that it showed that Abe is being political and put it's country's interest above that of his personal interest. I also agree what he dies as a private citizen is his business.

But I think you've missed my point. My point was that Japan and ALL of it's citizens holds the same view as Abe. And that is Japan has not committed any wrong doing in WW2.

Which is why they continue to visit yasakuni shrines to honour their war dead, including the ones that we, the international community have found guilty of war crime.

And this view is what's stopping bygones be bygones and start a new relationship with China and Korea, and to a less degree with other SE Asian countries. This is where I think Japan can never be a 'normal' country as Abe had hoped.
Given the current situation and how they are holding the most in USA treasury debt, should the USA dollar go, japan isn’t going to be in a very good place
Soon the full decline of the USA in full acceleration begins for real. Just two more months

Realistically, it's going to be another decade of slow (relative) decline in the US

While China rightly should not accept Japanese public figures honoring recognized war criminals, what private Japanese citizens do on their own time is really of no consequence to relations between the two nations.

You have to keep in mind that relatively few people visit the Yasukuni Shrine in Japan. It is but a footnote in the Japanese public conscience. Most Japanese understandably do not want to think about what their nation did in WW2, but if they were confronted with the issue, most of them would acknowledge their wrongdoing.

The problem with Japan is that their leadership is controlled by a small group of elite but conservative families. Their politicians ascribe to the same "old glories" mentality, where they worship their "samurai spirit". This makes them unwilling to take concrete actions to bridge differences on the WW2 issue with China and Korea.

I don't disagree with much of what you said. Except the ones about most Japanese acknowledge their wrong doings. In fact most Japanese are not even aware of their wrong doings. And those who does, are in denial.

The elites as you put it are the most powerful people in Japan. They are the royal family, politicians and top judges and top businessmen.

You can't absolved the populace of this. Because as the old saying goes, we get the politicians we deserved. After all they did select them out of free choice.

So in summary, I think where we differ is that I think the Japanese people do not think war crimes have been committed, and as such still continues to visit the yasakuni shrines in their millions to honour their war dead. And not acknowledge their war crime atrocities.

Look at Germany, they've made it illegal to have anything to do with the Nazi party. Yet, the Japanese still allows all things to do with imperial Japan.

And until this mentality changes, there will never going to be peace in east Asia.

That is true, on a realistic setting but also note that this year has a lot of unrealistic things happening that just one more super crazy event that occurs in the USA might just set everyone off for good. For reference, just take a good look at California, this years wild fire along with covid and with lack of support from Trump (he hates California with a passion) pretty much devastated the entire state for years to come. If something like that happened in Florida (another Hurricane) might be the last straw.
