On a secondary note, this could be a nothing burger and Russian media's attempts to distract US attention away from itself and towards China, given Biden's laser focus in destroying Russia.

I hate to disagree with you about the part of USSR. USSR units hay days is not small in population or have a irrelevant economy. In fact, they have the second largest economy at the height of the cold war in the 1950s.

To be fair, it's more that the banks and trading platforms are afraid of being sued by disgruntled retail investors if the Gamespot stock tanks, which is more likely than being sued by the same customers/retail investors for not allowing them to cash in.
