Well, a man‘s gotta eat.
That man is such a b&*(h, everything he has prophecies about China has not only failed but is accurately describing what on earth is happening to the UK and USA. He is such a God awful liability and the worst part, funniest actually is that they not only don't realize this but they are actively encourage this logic. The fail of the west cannot come soon enough, what with the USA in particular being filled with idiots that cannot read a map, due to being brain washed by idiots like Geogie.

This can also apply to Japan since it seems that they have lost their collective balls due to sucking on the USA's balls for far to long that is literally turned them from fearsome foes that commit atrocities in Nanjing to being such pussies that if a single thing the people like Geogie says is true about China, China would have avenged what had happened in Nanjing 1000 times over and turn there entire woman population into, well, hookers and killed every single man in Japan. Of course, China has never invaded or commit such a whole sale massacre while the USA seems to literally have a reputation for doing these things while calling themselves the good guys . This is something that the USA cannot get is that if China didn't have respect for human rights, well Japan would have gone bye bye the moment that China has the nuke and even more so now that they have hypersonic weapons.

Is it just me, or when 2021 struck, there was suddenly a bong in the fabric of the cosmos and China is now the most powerful country in the world?

Don't count our chickens yet. I'd caution, keep our heads low and bide our time. Let the West continue with their mistakes (don't ever interrupt your enemy when hes making mistakes)!

It a funny way, I wish Trump had won the election, because he's not smart. He alienate all his allies in dealing with China. I fear Biden's team will play smarter.

So be prepare!

Yeah, better not make the same stupid mistake like the USA and wage at least about 2-5 different wars on multiple fronts while having to spend trillions upkeep them all. That is completely dumb but then again, China isn't that crazy and also, right now, the USA couldn't be in a more horrible situation then they are now and it is set to being even worse.

China could and should use its financial muscle to encourage a mass migration of financial and other professionals services out of London. Or better still, use very thinly veiled threats of doing so as a means to put a leash on the British and rip them out of Five Eyes.

One of the key reasons that London was such a successful financial centre was because the UK was part of the EU. The EU is to Britain what China is to HK. Without the draw of the massive EU internal market, precisely what is the point of setting up shop in the UK?

The key advantage the UK offered was being an English speaking member of the EU, but they are not the only English speaking EU member. Ireland is right next door, and has a proven history of being very pro-Business (so much so the EU commission took them to court).

If China came knocking with an offer of the century to make Dublin the new London, or if they really want to stick the knife in, they can propose to make any of the secondary towns or cities on the Northern Ireland boarder the new Financial centre. That will then serve as a huge new source of wealth and employment, which the Irish government could easily make fully accessible to citizens from Northern Ireland, and I think you can see where this is going. Such a move will prompt a mass migration of financial and other professional services out of London to Ireland and Northern Ireland, while also massively strengthening the possibility of Irish reunification.

Not necessary wolfie. Frankfurt and Paris is already a very large financial centre, and it's at the very beating heart of EU. I think just the threat of moving investment there would put the wind up London. Don't forget it was the very fact the EU financial centre and the Euro monetary control was given to Frankfurt that causes the UK not to join the Euro the first place. Had the negotiation gone the U.K. 's way. The U.K. would still be in the EU.

On the other hand, I like the idea of proposing investment to Dublin, that will speed up Ireland unification somewhat! Together with Scotland and Welsh independence. The quicker we make the little Englanders a real thing the better.

At the risk of repeating myself. I quote our friend Bonaparte again:

“Never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake.” ... “Then, gentlemen,” said Napoleon, “let us wait a little; when your enemy is executing a false movement, never interrupt him.”

@Gatekeeper ,

Since you're in UK, what's the sentiment there regarding Brexit , I was there in Dec of 2019 and had discuss it a lot with my supplier with a pint of beer (Corona beer), lorry driver and tour guide most of them are against it, especially those who came from the northern region (Liverpool & Manchester)and Scotland. Wales and most of London are for Brexit, I'm surprised cause London under EU thrive. :confused:

The UK fishing industry was one of the most hardcore supporters of brexit, and was supposed to be one of the very few sectors that would be better off after brexit.

Reality doesn’t give a crap about fake news and political spin, and brexit isn’t working out anything like how it was sold, and we are still at a very early stage before a lot of the impact have filtered through!

They will be teaching this in the history books as a cautionary tale for sure.

@plawolf,

Liverpool and Scotland are major fishing region and they are against Brexit, and last year Boris Johnson agree to give up fishing right for a Brexit deal.

The heart and soul of financial and other professional services are the people, not the buildings or hardware.

While Frankfurt and Paris are indeed the EU’s secondary financial centres after London, in order to truly take over from London, they would need to both be attractive to current London based staff, and also have the capabilities to absorb that huge influx of new people (which means competition and political friction with locals). It is on those fronts that give me pause about seeing Paris or Frankfurt being able to truly replace London.

At the human level, I think it would be a much easier ask to get people to move from London to Northern Ireland or even Ireland itself than to move to France or Germany.

On top of that, you have the political considerations also. What great leverage would it give China in the medium to long run to promote the migration of financial services from London to Paris/Frankfurt? Sure they might be all smiles while it was happening, but as soon as the migration is complete, they will go back to crapping in China when it suits them.

Creating a brand new financial centre in Ireland would both make the Irish government much more pliant (owing to Ireland’s smaller economic/political weight, and also from the raw demonstration of Chinese power - China can make a new financial centre just as it can unmake one), and also give China much more leverage with the EU by propelling Ireland up to EU top table status to replace the dearly departed UK.
