The Philippines will be nothing more than the white man's vassal state. 400 years of colonialism and they look down on other asians they also fear mid eastern peoples for no reason because of all the movies and video games. They even cheer on Ukraine even if they know they are nazis.
That's called LACK OF PROPER HISTORICAL EDUCATION. The Philippines, at least when I lived, studied there eons ago in terms of it's curriculum never dealt with the sensitive topic that concerns the many historical blights made by the U.S. government. The education system there never talked about systemic and structural racism against Blacks or talk about slavery, let alone the Chinese exclusionary Act of the 1800's, the internment camps for Japanese-American during WWII. Which is why when Filipinos travel to the U.S. almost all of them were unaware of the societal issues that deeply affects the American experience. They are made to known the best of America without her blemishes, especially accentuated by Hollywood, media propaganda. And many Filipinos who experienced racism in America never talks about it to their compatriots basically to "SAVE FACE" which is prevalent in that culture as well.
Filipinos are hardly aware of the crimes and genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany against the German Jews, the millions of Russian and Soviet citizen killed in it's attempted conquest of Soviet Russia. I am sorry to say this and with apology to
@ansy1968 Filipinos are historically illiterate. Most of what they know are propagandized history, nothing more and nothing less. I can only say that if it was not for the internet a lot of these information that can be easily obtained and learned that have seeped through a growing people in that country have began to make it's impact. That's the reason why a figure like Duterte was elected, the reason why BBM Jr. was elected since the information silos and control held by traditional media in that country no longer had the monopoly.
You can't expect and fault Filipinos for thinking that way when no dissenting voice and real education especially the reason of American colonization of that country let alone a deep understanding of the world history or of Chinese history, it's legacy, it's glorious past, material and scientific influence that helped shape the world as we know today.
This looming, ongoing conflict of China vs. U.S. is just an extension or part of the intelligized, informatized war that the PLA has talked, conceptualized about. I don't know how the PLA can break through this information bubble that exists on countries like the Philippines and around ASEAN countries for that matter. It's a tall order.
